Animalchemists is a strategic multi-tiered market spell-crafting game for 2-5 players.
Become your favorite Animal Alchemist as you aim to be the best spell caster. Win by having the most points from Spells, Potions, and Ingredients at the end of the game!
Stretch Goals Added:
- $10,000 - UV Gloss highlights on the Character cards.
- $12,000 - UV Gloss highlights on the Potion cards.
Each round is limited to only 1 action, so plan wisely as we take you through your options...
You can take two ingredients...
Or draw them from the ingredient deck if you don't see the ones you need...
If you've already got some ingredients in hand and want to use them, you can instead brew a potion that matches the ingredients you want to use...
You can only have one of each type of potion in front of you at a time. Potions aren't going to win you the game though. You'll need a combination of potions and ingredients to craft spells...
There are 16 unique spells that may each only be cast once. Will you cast Foresight to get ahead, or put a Plague on all players? Casting spells doesn't use your 1 action per turn, so it might be best to save them for the right time to strike!
The game is a fixed length in that it always ends when the last spell is crafted. Use each of the 5 Ingredients for Time Stop to end the game and find out if you were cunning enough to come out ahead!

Animalchemists was designed by Jon Cohn (Ghostbusters: Blackout, Grind House, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Munchkin) and Dustin Jenkinson and shows off the fantastic art of our newest artist, Anastas Ermolina. We've featured the game at multiple conventions running test games with players from around the world.
As a way to say thank you to those super backers who go above and beyond, we've had a limited number of collector's boxes made featuring the Spell Deck card back on the cover of a wooden book box. The box will have a leather binding with the name of the game as well as a leather front closure clasp.
We will be shipping all US games to backers from our location in Nevada. International backers will get games 1-2 months after US backers most likely due to added time needed to ship games to an international fulfillment partner who will handle final distribution. We are continually looking for the best shipping options and will choose the partner best able to meet our needs as we get closer to the time of shipping.
We don't anticipate the game taking until April to ship, but with production going into the holidays and shortly after into Chinese New Year, we don't want to get up hopes in case of any unexpected delays.
We will ship EU and most international games from within the UK. What that could mean at the time of shipping is anyone's guess due to Brexit and such. Due to the low price point of the game though, VAT and customs import fees shouldn't be an issue, but back knowingly.
CardLords Track Record
We've put the majority of our time and focus into our small box game line, creating compact games that offer high amounts of replayability with short play times. Our card and box quality are top grade with cards being 300gsm Black Core with Poker Varnish, and boxes being made of a thick polypropylene plastic so they stand up on their own and won't breakdown when tossed in a pocket, bag, backpack, or purse. Our cards are designed to be shuffled, and will hold up to bridge shuffling for years to come.
We can't usually offer much in the way of stretch goals simply due to the quality we use and the compactness of our games, but there is one thing we would be able to go a bit over the top on if funding exceeds what we need for printing and fulfillment.
- Custom UV Embossing on specific cards.
We used this technique on the captain cards in The Pirate's Flag and it was widely regarded as some of the coolest cards people have seen. It's only viable for cards that don't get shuffled frequently and definitely adds cost, but it's a really cool effect we were extremely happy with and think would look cool here.

Risks and challenges
This is our 6th time on Kickstarter thanks to the continued support of backers around the world. We simply couldn't be making these games if it weren't for all of you. Each time we do a campaign we learn something new, and we'll do our best to put that knowledge into all aspects of development, manufacturing, shipping, and fulfillment.
International Shipping has always been one of our biggest hurdles, but we are continuing to look for fulfillment partners there that can alleviate some of our pain points. We'll do our best to secure a solution that is both cost effective and time aware.
We will be printing with DoFine Games once again. They have printed our last three small box games and our mold/tooling for the boxes is 100% set, the materials are solidified, and we're happy to not need to make any changes this time around.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
