What are CardFilms?
CardFilms easily attach videos and photos to greeting cards, postcards, and invitations, allowing you to bring your next piece of snail mail to life.
A CardFilm is essentially a QR code that points to a unique and private location on our web app so that recipients can easily view the sender's uploaded media.
CardFilms come as stickers or as non-stick cutouts and can be personalized for any occasion.
How do CardFilms work?
Each individual CardFilm points to a unique location on our web app. When someone goes to send a CardFilm, they simply scan the code with their mobile device and enter the PIN code provided for the CardFilm. This PIN code proves they are they original owner of the CardFilm, and grants them access to upload videos & photos for that particular code.
When someone receives the CardFilm, they scan the code and can immediately view the video. There is an option for the sender to include a PIN protection for the video, for an added layer of privacy.
If you are sending a large group of CardFilms, you have the option of linking each of your CardFilms to the same location, so that all your recipients see the same media.
Why send a CardFilm?
CardFilms give the recipient access to special moments that they don't normally get in a piece of paper mail.
Here are a few awesome CardFilm ideas:
Wedding Save the Dates - Share a special video from the couple - maybe you even recorded the proposal?
Thank You Cards - Did someone give you a special gift? Include a video of you using or wearing their gift alongside your thank you note.
Holiday Cards - Use a video to show how much the grandkids have grown and keep all your CardFilms on your mantle. Each year, you can travel through time as you view curated videos from holidays past.
Postcards - Going somewhere new? Why not spice up that generic postcard with your own pictures and videos.

We want to get CardFilms in front of as many people as possible so that we can fine tune our web app and sticker/card production. This Kickstarter will allow us to show off the idea and will provide valuable feedback for CardFilms moving forward.
The funds raised from this campaign will allow us to explore more mediums for printing our cards on, and allow us to set up an e-commerce site for custom bulk and personalized orders.
Our number one goal is to keep the CardFilm experience as seamless as possible so that CardFilms can be easily used and appreciated by people with any level of technical experience.
CardFilms is built by Andrew - an experienced software engineer - and Justin - an expert in shipping, fulfillment, and customer success - and did not require any third-party help in building out our prototype. We would like to continue to operate as lean as possible to ensure the product works and scales with our vision.
Risks and challenges
At this point CardFilms is fully prototyped and tested on a small scale. The biggest risks at this point are around scaling the web app to handle large potential large amounts of traffic - which is something that we have experience in doing. Our app will be hosted on the cloud and is built around a mission to make the experience as easy as possible, so that CardFilms can be enjoyed by everyone. We will be deploying a small blog to discuss technical challenges and solutions for those who are interested in following along.
Second to that, we have decided to simplify the CardFilms in the Kickstarter to all require a PIN and ID code, which lowers the production risk and speeds up the production printing. In the future, we will explore selling more unique CardFilms that do not require a PIN and ID code.
We are continuing to explore new options for stickers and prints in an effort to reduce our footprint and to ensure that our customers are happy with the experience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
