Animal Abilities Update #6 - The Snake & The Horse

After a short wait, galloping and neighing could be heard. The dynamic Horse came into view and was making a beeline for the finish line. Unbeknownst to the Horse, the Snake was coiled around one of its hooves. Just as the Horse was about to make for the finish line, the intuitive Snake uncoiled and launched itself in front of the Horse! This caused the Horse to rear and fall back in fright, while the Snake slithered calmly across the finish line to claim sixth. The zealous Horse, after recovering, could only make seventh.

Strategy

The intuitive Snake's ability revolves around gaining movement through playing a lowered numbered Action card. Remember, when playing a lower numbered Action card, you must spend 1 Karma if the Action card is 1 value lower than the previously played card, or 2 Karma if the card is 2 or more values lower. The Snake can move 1 or 2 spaces (depending on the Karma spent for playing a lower numbered Action card) simply by playing lower numbered Action cards each turn.

With a sufficient supply of Karma, the Snake can gain an incredible amount of movement over the course of a few turns!

The Years of the Snake include: 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, and 2025.  Usually, people regard the Snake as a cunning and sly animal, which likes hanging out in darkness. In fact, this animal is also a symbol of wisdom and wit. Therefore, people with Chinese zodiac sign 'Snake', are sensitive and humorous, and most of them are gifted in literature and art, such as Goethe and Picasso.

Strategy

Similar to what happened in the folk tale, at the end of every round, the Horse can choose to lose 1 movement to gain a 1-Energy card and 1 Karma. This is an excellent tactic to use when planning to take an Exchange action in the following round. The bonus Karma gained can also prep you for playing a lower numbered Action card in the following round and/or for help with utilizing one of the special actions on the Outer Wheel of paying 2 Karma for 3 movement! Although this ability does penalize the Horse, it can do wonders if played tactfully!

Additionally, if the Horse resolves the same action with at least one other player and the Horse uses a larger Energy card on that action, it gains 1 additional movement (on top of the bonus movement already earned in this situation). The Horse is fast and while losing 1 movement may appear to be hindering, the Horse can quickly gain lost ground through a variety of cunning methods!

The Years of the Horse include: 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, and 2025.   People born in the year of the Horse always impress upon people with dynamic, zealous, and generous image. Most have nice personalities, such as warmheartedness, upright, and easygoing. Hence, they usually have a lot of friends flocking around them. Independence and endurance makes them more powerful, and they do not easily give up when in difficulties. Positive attitude leads to a brighter direction.
