$60k - Expansion++: Suggest cards!
Wow, we hit our $60k stretch goal last night, which means there are now 90 cards in the Story War expansion! We only have one more stretch goal left before we print a full 100 card expansion, which would essentially stand alone as a second fully playable game, or something you can shuffle in with the main game!
We want your feedback on what Warriors, Items and Battlefields we should put in the expansion! So let us know in the comments to this post what you think we should add to Story War!
Warriors: These are characters based on cultural touchstones that any random person is likely to be aware of, especially characters who have clear powers or abilities that would put them on the same fighting tier as, say, Medusa. We haven't done any greek gods yet because we're worried they might be too powerful, but do you guys think Zeus et el should be in the game?
Battlefields: These are places based on fictional tropes, but especially places that would affect combat. A lot of battlefields have the property "it helps to fly" so we try to avoid anything like that. We like battlefields that have some sort of built-in premise, like the Mystery Mansion card starts out as a dinner party but obviously turns into a murder mystery because this is a game about combat. We also really like battlefields with "NPCs" in them, like the Capital City card or Sleepy Village - often rallying passersby to join your army is a big part of it. What are some other trope-based locations we might add?
Items: These are sort of like Warriors, but objects. Right now we have objects like Excalibur, Philosopher's Stone, Flying Carpet, Life Potion, Poison Dagger, Bramble Seed, Flame Bow, Thunder Hammer, Frost Wand etc.. We're thinking of adding more WEAPONS to the deck, but specifically weapons that are based on mythological tropes and especially ones that attack indirectly. The Flame Bow and Thunder Hammer and Frost Wand are pretty ideal in terms of the kinds of weapons we want to include. Can you guys come up with anything?
Story War is a game for everybody, so it really helps to get input from as many people as possible. We might revisit this topic later, but for now, let *this update* serve as the repository for cool card ideas and suggestions!
We'll probably do a follow up post like this after the campaign ends and everyone has their Print and Play copy!
