Each one of us in Candy Warpop would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our Kickstarter thus far. Thanks to you, we have successfully reached our goal of funding the recording of our full-length album in April.
The $3,600 goal we set only covers our recording costs. Other expenses that are needed for this album include:
MASTERING — $1,200
CD PRESSING - $1,200
and a 10% KICKSTARTER FEE on top of it all
We encourage everyone who hasn't yet pre-ordered the album to do so. Several amazing rewards will still be offered during the next week, so act now if you want us to play a house party, cook you a vegan dinner, or send you a piece of original art. Details on all the incentives are on the right-hand column.
We are happy to be partnered with Eric Rickey (Most Thieves, Aurea Verba) and his brand new recording studio. We have already spent some time in Eric's studio, the result of which is "TRIGGER," a new song available for download to all Kickstarter contributors.
How Does Kickstarter Work?
Kickstarter is based on a pledge/reward system. By pledging a certain amount to our campaign, you may chose a matching reward from the list on the right-hand column. These rewards range from digital downloads of album material and signed CDs to more creative rewards like house parties and one-of-a-kind artwork. By contributing to this Kickstarter, you are helping us reach our fundraising goal. You will only be billed if and when the fundraising goal is met. If we do not reach our goal under the allotted time, no money is transferred and no rewards are given.
Consider this to also be a sort of pre-order system. By contributing now, you will receive the album in addition to other exclusive goodies you won't find available at any other time. If you like our music and want to support us, now is the time and this is the place!
The incentives we are offering cover a wide range of price options so everyone can be involved. For those who can only give a little, please take this opportunity to pre-order the album. Pre-orders of the album will include exclusive downloadable content that only Kickstarter backers will have access to.
All backers who contribute $100 and over or within the first 48 hours will be invited to a special VIP celebration backstage at our album release show. A special drink called "the Candy Warpop," a dastardly concoction devised by drinkmaster D'Andre Balaoing, will be served at this event for all to enjoy.
All backers who contribute $150 and over will receive a signed CD, poster, and shirt in addition to their reward.
As a part of Las Vegas' growing arts community, Candy Warpop is also pleased to offer several rewards in partnership with local artists. Local photography duo Radiant Inc. are contributing two photo shoots to our Kickstarter. Monica Rose, the Candy Warpop live photographer whose photographs of renown artist Alex Grey appear in his most recent book, is also contributing two photo shoots. Artists Matthew Couper, JK Russ, Gina Quaranto, Murbina, and Christine Montoya have contributed original art in addition to one-of-a-kind pieces offered by our frontwoman Amy Pate. By supporting us, you can support a whole creative community.
"One band that stood out was Candy Warpop, which blends speed-punk and
experimental rock. When the group performs, its dissonant guitar and
bass noise is met, violently, by frontwoman Amy Pate’s growling voice
and Anisa Buttar’s drum-kit destruction. An enjoyable sight and sound
experience." -Las Vegas Weekly 1/30/13
"'The Exterminating Angel' is among many new songs the band has written since scoring a new singer, Amy Pate. The band is busy prepping a full-length album." -Vegas Seven 12/13/12
"The band was a lot like a traveling circus; they had a lot of audio/visual accoutrements going on and two very muscular fellows in their skivvies wearing pig masks dancing throughout their set." -Rolling Stone 10/27/12
"Minutes into an explosive set, it was clear the good ship Warpop sounded
better than ever. Amy Pate never took her eyes off the tightly
packed crowd and fit in well with remaining Warpoppers Joshua Cohen
(guitar), Jonas Woolverton (bass) and Anisa Buttar (drums)" -Las Vegas Weekly 8/29/12
"If Van Gogh drank at The Double Down, he would have painted stuff that looked like this..." The Vegas Dad 1/27/13
Risks and challenges
Recording an album is a long, laborious process. As such, our shipping estimates are merely that: estimates. We want to create the best album possible and will take whatever time is necessary to perfect it. We appreciate everyone's patience as we realize this crazy dream together.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
