Candylab is at it. Again.
We are compulsive designers, product developers and parents (well, some of us) that have not quite let go of the inner kid. We design, engineer, and manufacture toy cars that are absolutely loved by children and would sit nicely on a shelf too. And quite a few people say it, because we have been doing this for some years now: we make culturally cheeky toys for contemporary humans, and everyone gets to play!
We were born right here on Kickstarter, and since they say practice makes perfect, we kept practicing and practicing. Toy biz is a tough biz, in fact, but having an early supporter base in you, our loyal backers, always reassured us and gave us confidence in our design chops.
...we have a real treat for you. We have been working on a radical new type of body and whole new approach to our builds, a difficult trick in woodworking. But we persisted and the result is pushing the boundaries of woodworking and craftsmanship. And we teamed up with our friend Joey Ruiter, a Design Superhero for an extra spicy look. He rocks.
We give you:
With a strong nod to the peak of mid 60's automotive design when slabs reigned supreme, we created 4 new designs.
A direct channelling of Joey Ruiter's own White Beast, an iconic mid century luxury sedan turned into a monster sleeper with a swapped engine and bagged suspension. Smooth, abstract and stunning. We didn't stop here: we 3D scanned our friend and made him into a superhero action figure, so he can tell the entire story.
The mirror image of the White beast. We'd say the evil twin, but really which one is it? With black matte body paint and whitewall tires, the Sheep sports a lowriding body and silky smooth presence.
This one ain't a beast name, but she's fast and silky smooth. Two-tone paint fenders, white letter tires, and an attitude of barely restrained aggressivity.
A decidedly more laid back vehicular spirit, this is a new, slick take on our now famous Woodies. It has a precise veneer job with real microwood, a magnetic surfboard included and it's the first Candylab car to have covered rear wheel fenders.
They all come in a custom designed, tight fitting box, same width and length for proper stacking with your other Candylab Collectibles. We will outdo ourselves: Silver foiled, black matte board packaging.
For the true collectors, we now offer a solid American Walnut wood base as an optional upgrade. Each beast has 2 pieces of Neodymium rare earth magnets, which will snap to the 2 magnets embedded in the wood base, securing the car to it.
A true Renaissance designer, Joey's work spans automotive, nautical, furniture, graphic and product design. He is the rare designer that takes the time to build and fabricate his ideas: futuristic dune buggies, boxy snowmobiles, bikes, furniture for world-class companies and much more. His moving, road-worthy kinetic sculptures are admired worldwide in the car community and featured in tons of publications. His no-nonsense take on form and function is an alternate and inspiring view in the design world. That's why we love his work so much. And he has great hair too!
In other words, he is a Design Superhero and we want to celebrate that - so we made him into an action figure!

Risks and challenges
We have completed quite a few successful campaigns and have learned the rules the hard way. Manufacturing, sales, advertising, design and logistics are now well worn routines for us. There is always something new to come at us and disrupt the flow, but we have proved resilient so far, and are well positioned to deliver this on time!
