The cards will be STANDARD playing card sized and work with any 2.5 x 3.5 sleeve.Last updated:
Over the years, Battletech miniatures have hit the gym and gotten a bit beefier, but our minis will fight right in with them all.Last updated:
I mean, you COULD use them and simply place their cards off to the side for stat tracking. if you are baller enough. ;)
The real answer however is we were lucky to partner up with a great guy and amazing artist early on who actually worked for Catalyst Games and Iron Wind Metals creating mechs for Battletech. All the efreets are already 3d models so it was minimal effort on our part to offer them to backers as a unique and special reward. Also, a bit of a no brainer at that point.Last updated:
No question Battletech had a huge influence on me growing up. It was my first real board game and my friends and I were degenerate junkies with a rather large mini collection back in the day. We'd select our miniatures for games like other people browse the wine list at a restaurant.
So the property has a special place in my heart and we tried to tap into that spirit of what made it so exciting when developing REDLINE. As far as the look of the game's efreets. See above. ;)Last updated:
We hear you and are working on something. Stay tuned.Last updated:
This has been brought up a lot. So let me answer it right away. Our 1st 3 stretch goals are all dedicated to putting more cards in player's hands. The "Upgrade Pack" will infuse an extra 12 cards into the core set so players can start tweaking and tooling around with deck construction.
Unlock 2 expands the mission deck with 5 extra cards and the 3rd unlock will add our first two expansion decks to the game.
Now the explanation. As a new game we had no idea how REDLINE would be received or its level of support. There was a fear that if we went too big too fast and offered up a ton of cards from the start, we'd inflate our goal to fund and fall flat on our face. We have a ton of ideas for new cards, new factions, new efreets but without knowing the game's level of reception felt it would be irresponsible launch without a proof of concept.
If players want more cards, and trust me as a rogue deckbuilder myself (you should see my playgroup, disgusting) I want more cards too, help share and support our campaign to make those levels possible!Last updated:
I hate getting ahead of myself when we still have yet to fund. But as we are making an expandable card game it's a fair question.
Our goal is to grow the game of REDLINE with new deck expansions that come in waves. Each wave will offer new expansion decks that players can play with straight out of the box that adds new cards, new mechanics and new strategies to the game or take the deck apart for fodder to make their own lists.
There are also plans for 3 more factions to increase the total to 5. Each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
An Industrial faction would represent all the big tech and space mining companies hinted at in REDLINE's lore. These efreets would not be military grade and instead be armed with physical tools as weapons. Chainsaws, laser torches, drills, jackhammers etc.
A mercenary faction would consist of some of the private military corporations (PMC)that have sprung up in the game. This faction would focus on elite units and the current idea is for each merc expansion deck to be built around a specific PMC.
The 5th faction. Well, that's a secret, though hints have been dropped to anybody's who's read the game's story. :)Last updated:
We would like each expansion deck to contain 55 cards. That means a 50 card REDLINE deck, 1 General card to lead it, and 4 new mission cards players can add to their existing mission deck. We hope adding new mission cards will help to keep the game fresh. Think of them as REDLINE's version of map pack DLC. :)Last updated:
I cry for 5 minutes then make plans to try again.
In all seriousness, closing in on the last 48 hours as I write this, we are in good shape and still hope and believe we can secure funding.Last updated:
