Campers come and go. Camp Sunshine is about the counselors – a hilarious, eclectic group of Generation Y’s who aren’t exactly shining examples of humanity. As most of their big plans have failed, the counselors find themselves coming back to supervise summer sports camp, year after year, after year. Through a new version of the mockumentary genre, we explore the hilarity, quirkiness, and occasional charm of this bottom-of-the-barrel institution.
Risks and challenges
As with every television and film production, one of our primary focuses (other than making you laugh) is to produce the pilot episode of Camp Sunshine on time & under budget. This will be a full scale production with 20 crew members, 15 cast members, and 30 extras scheduled over the 5 days of production. To assist with these challenges, the producers have brought on a production coordinator, an assistant director, and a 2nd AD.
Due to a large number of exterior scenes, another factor is the weather - but we're filming in Los Angeles so no sweat.
Digital film is prone to memory card corruption. To prevent this hazard, Camp Sunshine will have a full time DIT (Digital Information Technician) on set backing up our footage to multiple external hard drives in real time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
