What's the Story?
Delta Blue is the story of three unique and compelling characters, Willie Ray Marmalade, Hoot Ryker and Miss Annie. They operate a backwoods speakeasy called Delta Blue in the remote recesses of the planet Delta. The speakeasy is a front for their real mission – to counteract the oppression of the omnipresent, soul-stealing 'Capitol Corporation', whose greed and corrupt activities have made virtual slaves of Delta’s citizens.
Marmalade, Hoot and Annie are smugglers that get their hands on whatever technology will combat the Corp. while helping the voiceless. The trio is caught up in a grand adventure, with ever escalating danger, in a life-threatening attempt to undo the corporation before it becomes too big to stop.
Music, humor and suspense all intertwine to create a compelling adventure tale, not entirely of this world, in Delta Blue.

What do we need?
We are asking for your help to get the first three episodes of Delta Blue produced, finished and out to market. We are taking a multi-formatted approach. The three episodes comprise both a web series and a TV pilot, which can used to solicit further funding and exposure.
The first season of twelve episodes have already been written and planned out. The twelve episodes represent a full arc in the narrative, as well as a jumping off point for future seasons. At minimum, Delta Blue promises to be a web series that expands the boundaries of the medium, in both content and quality.
We have a number of resources already in place, some excellent equipment, some in-kind donations and some key industry partners who will support the project. We would like to cover at least a portion of our other expenditures. Our kickstarter funds will cover
- Craft Services
- Special Effects
- Art and Set Direction
- Post Production
The shoot for the three episodes has been scheduled for 4 days and we want to make sure every hard earned dollar that you pledge can be seen on the screen.
Help us to make it all by donating at one of the levels to your right on the page. Cool premiums will be sent as a thank you for your donation. Help us make this series a reality. Become a part of our collaborative effort. And for the sake of the Planet Delta, tell your friends.
The cast of characters-
Miss Annie is the boss. She's the brains of the operation and doesn't take slack from anybody. But she's extremely kind and warm to those in need. She is a burlesque dancer by trade and opened up Delta Blue to make a bit of cash. She has a way about her that makes all the fellas fall in love with her. She knows it and uses it fully to her advantage.
Played by longtime collaborator and friend of the creator, Rebekah Lynn Bruflodt is a beautifully talented burgeoning starlet in the actor's arena. With an ever growing list of entries to her resume, her talent and personality is the perfect fit for the character of Annie.
Willie Ray 'Marmalade' is the house musician. He's hopelessly in love with Annie. He has a complicated history and sees the world and its complexities in different shades of gray. A quiet but occasionally eccentric artist, he is also a crack shot with the pistol he keeps hidden inside his guitar.
Played by brilliant musician and actor Collin Hauser who can be seen at various spots around the country comfortably playing solo acts or with some national names. Trained at UNT as a jazz sax player, Collin lends his incredibly gifted mind to Delta Blue on screen and off screen. He will also be producing the soundtrack (an example of which can be seen in the announcement trailer) with fellow musician Joel Cross.
Hoot Ryker is the barkeep. He's a cross between the intensity of Liam Neeson and the attitude of Teddy Roosevelt. He sees the world as a matter of good and evil and that often gets him into trouble. Not that he cares, he'd rather put up his fists (justice and punishment) and duke an issue out rather than talk about his 'emotions'.
Played by Benjamin Dennis, a Dallas actor that has steadily been working his way up the scene. Don't let his pitch perfect match for Hoot fool you, Benjamin is actually a very talented and easy going actor. He and creator Cameron Smith have been working together for years and he was the first actor in mind to play Hoot.
Who is the 'Showrunner'?
Delta Blue was written conceived by Cameron J. Smith. He is literally the man behind the camera, as he shoots and directs nearly everything he does, developing a unique style and flare for cinema.
Cameron is constantly working on new projects, including videos for the Polyphonic Spree, short films, documentaries, etc. He’s a writer/director/cinematographer/editor who has earned praise for his work from many people. His years of experience have enabled him to assemble a great team with a passion for the special project that is Delta Blue. He has been a prolific filmmaker with many short films on hitrecord, and this is the project he has pointing toward.
A Limited Release Podcast says ”Thanks to Cameron J. Smith for sending us the link and synopsis for the upcoming series he’s currently writing/directing/filming/editing, which from the trailer looks like it borrows quite a bit from the opera Westerns of the Sergio Leone era with a Southern Blues twist and a little mist of sci-fi added for flavour. Already my mouth is watering. You had me at “hello”, Cameron.”
What is Bluespunk?
A little late for Steampunk and a few decades early for Cyberpunk, Bluespunk is the new genre set in the dirty south amidst seedy characters, mythical tales of crime and corruption, and all manner of nastiness. Removed from the Gatsby glitz and glam of the 'roaring twenties' of New York, Bluespunk and Delta Blue are themed in the dirty, grungy, world of the American South during the depression with a science fiction twist.
Things aren't polished in Delta Blue. They have years of grime leftover from turmoil past and characters must struggle for everything. But through that strife, our Hoot, Marmalade, and Annie change and mold themselves into something complex.
Risks and challenges
Obviously starting this project is the biggest obstacle. While everyone involved is wildly talented and we have a huge network, the idea of Delta Blue is something entirely fresh and potentially a risky venture for an investor.
Once we are funded and film the first 3 episodes, we will be able to market the series. We can get it in front of the people that will let us produce the entire series as well as establish a community of fans.
This kickstarter is the first step in a new genre and we need your help. Get in with us on the ground floor and build something special with us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
