About this project
Producing a film is expensive. Exponentially more so when you don't have a lot of resources available. That's why we've decided to crowd-source our project, so that you can help young Hoosier filmmakers produce a product they can be proud of.
In order to produce the film we need to secure location rights, cover equipment fees, and pay for art supplies and costuming. (And this still doesn't include costs to feed and transport our ALL volunteer cast and crew)
About the Project
Launchpad is the senior honors thesis film of Andrew Cambron at Indiana University. He is the recipient of this year's Jack Sheehan Memorial Scholarship, presented to a Telecommunication major who has demonstrated imagination, artistic integrity, and creativity. He most recently edited the short film, "Lester Kannon" which won Audience Choice and Best Narrative at this year's Iris Film Festival. He also was the creator of the video game, "Platformer from Hell" which was developed in the Fall 2011 Advanced Video Game Seminar, and will soon be released for the Xbox Live Indie Arcade.
Graham Walsh, the Director of Photography, is a senior at Indiana
University. He has twice been awarded the LeRoy Bannerman Scholarship for Excellence in Audio Production, and is this year's recipient of the Donald Abbott Rushton Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in Directing. Graham recently directed "Lester Kannon," winning Audience Choice and Best Narrative awards at the Iris Film Festival. Last spring, he directed and was assistant camera operator for "Glimpse," winner of Best Drama at IU's Campus Moviefest.
Danielle C. Head is an IU MFA Photography graduate serving as Art Director of this project. She wrote and invented the character "Lester Kannon" (Some say that she looks a bit like him as well). She also holds a degree in Film Studies and Photography from Amherst College.
The short film Lester Kannon, which we recently finished.
LaunchPad is the short story of a boy growing up in the Midwest. More than anything he dreams of becoming an astronaut, but as with many kids, a dysfunctional home life has been keeping him grounded.
We're not asking for any of our backers to go without reward, and we don't intend to put a premium on our product either.
That's why we're giving away the film for $5 in HD with no DRM (no Digital Rights Management, that nasty stuff that makes it hard watch on your computer). We know that in 2012 asking for anything more would be just plain greedy.
Those donors who go above and beyond, will be rewarded with a collection of awesome swag that we are trying to put together.
For the some lucky individuals, we're even giving away clones of the rocket we designed to house a Go-Pro camera. Pretty neat!
We're really excited to be contributing to the growing film culture in Bloomington, IN. And we can't wait for you to see our finished product. Please help us out!
Special thanks to the band Fluffer for the use of their song in our promotional video. fluffer.bandcamp.com
