'Tis the season of giving, and since Santa hasn't been returning my calls, I thought I'd call on you wonderful people for a little holiday help. Check out my story below to find out what fantastic music your donations will help us create and share with the world, and then choose a rewards package to the right. But please hurry- that countdown up there on the right ain't messin' around!
I’m Camaron Ochs (pronounced Oaks, like the tree). I’m a California native and recent Nashville resident, who started down this road of country music when I was asked to write and submit songs for Faith Hill. Since then I’ve had my song "Fall Madly In Love" placed on the debut album from Maggie Rose (Sony/RPM), been offered a songwriting deal and even a spot on a reality singing competition, but the whole time I’ve had my sights set higher: I’ve been gearing up to make my debut as a country artist with an album that will push country music forward.
This past year I was named one of 2012's 'Most Fascinating Folks' by Diablo Magazine (From Olympic athletes to film stars to an economic expert: Meet this year’s most fascinating folks). To continue my reign of fascination, I am creating an album of the biggest, most aggressive, driving, catchy & hip country music you have ever heard.
Let me introduce you to the Dream Team that will make this project a success (prepare for name-dropping). I’ve spent the last two years songwriting and developing a new country sound with the executive producer of the album, Tyler Johnson (Fun., Taylor Swift, All American Rejects, P!NK). Melissa Mattey (Bruce Springsteen, Faith Hill, Josh Turner, Brad Paisely, Keith Urban) is engineering and mixing. Anders Mouridsen (P!NK, Taylor Swift, John Fogarty) is working on songwriting, guitars and production. Douglas Showalter (Van Hunt, Anjulie, Gavin Castelton) is working on songwriting and guitars. Zack Werner (I legally can't tell you who he works for. So badass.) is doing production. And Jon Castelli (Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, RuPaul, Gotye) is working on production and mixing.
This team and I just wrapped up an amazing 5 days of pre-production at Jeff Bhasker's studio (Kanye West, FUN., Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, P!NK, Beyoncé, Rolling Stones) in Venice Beach, California. Jeff is a fan of the music we're making so he let us use his studio! How cool is that?! And now we are ready to record the live instruments in Nashville at The Castle Recording Studio (Dolly Parton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Etta James, Snoop Dogg, LeAnn Rimes)!!
Extensive ninja planning, favors from famous friends, and some donations have afforded me the opportunity to make this first-class record on such a small budget, but there are still some hard costs we can’t avoid (trust me, I tried). I still need money for the studio, players, engineering, mixing, mastering, duplication and album art. This is why I need you, my favorite fans and friends, to be involved in the making of this album.
Every little bit helps. Your speedy transaction is crucial because it’s an all or nothing deal: we have to reach our goal of $10,000 by January 1st (provided the world doesn’t end), or we get NO money AT ALL. However we can raise more than $10,000 and exceeding this goal will only make it easier to bring the live show on tour to see YOU!
I am incredibly proud of the music we're creating but I'm only as good as my fan base and I believe that with your support we can impress the hell out of the top people in the music industry.
So please, take advantage of the goodies to the right. The more you give the more you get! We all love presents in our mailbox, and by pledging right now you can extend the feeling of the holidays into 2013.
Again, thank you so much for your support! The new year will be here before we know it, and I hope it brings great things for you... and my album.
Risks and challenges
This funding goal allows us to comfortably complete the record, even if a few unseen costs arise, and support the record with shows that will build the fan base and revenue needed make this a self-sustaining business.
The challenge, as with all music projects is to get enough fan and radio support to garner the right kind of offers from larger companies (record labels, publishers, management, booking agencies), that will allow this business to grow, reach a wider audience, take on more shows and produce more music. All of which will help appropriately compensate and honor the musicians that have put their heart and souls into this project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
