STRETCH GOALS HAVE BEEN UNLOCKED!!
Fleeing the oppression of WWII Germany, Avery and her parents move to a remote town on the border of France. It is here she finds her new best friend, a cat named Nook. But, there is more to this cat than it seems.
Avery is swept up into a deadly cycle of violence, and she will come to both fear and love her fuzzy new friend as the dark and twisted history of her new home is revealed.

This story is a culmination of demented dreams, family history, and my love for Guillermo del Toro's style of storytelling. From The Devil's Backbone to Pan's Labyrinth and Crimson Peak, I love the way he uses ghosts and mystical creatures to create an atmosphere of terror to reflect deeper meanings and develop tragic stories. I'm always intrigued by stories that appear to be scary on the surface but have many more layers and meanings.
Nook is inspired by these stories, and I hope when you experience it you will discover that there is much more to this little tale than meets the eye.
WHAT AM I BACKING?
This is a 32 page, black & white comic book. It is part 1 of a 3-part mini series that will be finished over the course of the next year. These funds will be used to cover the print cost, production of rewards, shipping, and final phase of artwork for Part 1. Any surplus funding will go to increasing the quality of the print and the production of Part 2 and 3 of the series.
This will be the 7th comic I have brought to life through Kickstarter. Over the past 3 years, I have funded 5 issues and a Hardcover trade my science-fiction series, Alter-Life, and 1 issue of my buddy-roadtrip-zombie-superhero series, ZED.
(A Friendly Reminder: credit cards are not charged until the END of the campaign and ONLY if the project is FULLY FUNDED, so please pledge early to help us build momentum! You can always adjust your pledge before the end. Oh, and domestic shipping is always FREE for my books!)
This beautiful wrap-around variant cover was created by Rob Cannon. He captured the essence of the story with a fantastically unique gothic image. This is available as both a cover for backers of $15 or more and as a print for backers of $50 or more.

FREE 11 PAGE PREVIEW
As a vote of confidence in the story we are creating, here is a preview of the first 11 pages. Issue 1 will be 32 pages. This 3 part mini series will explore the cyclical nature of our existence, and how we are ultimately doomed to repeat the past.
Here is the simple breakdown of the budget to give you an idea where the funds will go. Anything more than this will go to increasing the quality of the issue 1 print, the production of stretch goals, and artwork for issue 2 and 3.
KNOCK KNOCK... WHO'S THERE?
Creator and writer of Alter-Life, ZED, and Nook. A former filmmaker turned comic book creator. Looking to bring unique and exciting stories to the vast world of the independent comic industry. I have run 6 successful kickstarter campaigns in the past 3 years. 1 campaign funded the first issue of my Buddy-roadtrip-zombie-superhero comic, ZED. The 5 other campaigns paid for the artwork and production of the complete Alter-Life series and the Hardcover Trade which is currently available to backers of $50 or more.
Simply put, it is my passion to create great comics. I love the process, and I am in love with the medium. Kickstarter has played a major role in finding an audience for my stories and raising the funding to let me continue to create. Without it, and without you, I would not be able to keep creating.

Risks and challenges
I am trying something new here with this series. 30 days is a long time to run a campaign. Since I feel like I have an adequate following, and this project has been building steam for some time now, I am only running this campaign for 14 days. I think it's very reasonable to hit $1,500 in 14 days. My track record speaks for itself.
This comic will be finished, it will be amazing, and it will be delivered to you as soon as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
