About this project
We reached our goal!! But that doesn't mean you can't still get in on the action and be part of DC's first cakepoppery. We're accepting pledges until 11:59pm tonight!

Baked by Yael is ready to pop! Cake pop, that is. For two years, our bite-sized treats have been a huge hit at birthday parties, baby showers, office receptions, and election parties. Since cake pops are the perfect dessert for nearly every occasion, the possibilities are endless... except that Baked by Yael has limited resources and manpower. We need your help to transform Baked by Yael from an online bakery to a brick-and-mortar cakepoppery.
HOW: With your help!
We've raised part of the money we need to build our cakepoppery. We need your help to raise the rest. If enough people participate in our Kickstarter campaign, we'll have the start-up capital we need to build a storefront.
Whether you're in Washington, DC or Washington State, you can enjoy our cake pops. If you're in the DC metro area, you'll be able to stop by our cakepoppery and see firsthand what your Kickstarter contribution helped build. If you're out of town, your contribution will allow us to expand our shipping operations so we can share our cake pops with more people throughout the country.
WHO: Yael Krigman is a recovering attorney and the "Yael" in Baked by Yael. She made her first cake pop as a weekly treat for her coworkers during her law firm days. In November 2011, Yael took a huge leap of faith and quit her job as a corporate attorney to focus full-time on her business. Since then, she has been eating, sleeping, and breathing cake pops.
WHAT: A Cakepoppery (\ˈkākˈpäp-er-ē )
: a building where cake and frosting are mixed together, dipped in candy and placed on a lollipop stick to be sold; where customers can buy cake pops in all shapes, sizes, colors, and flavors to eat on the spot or order them for shipping anywhere in the United States; and where kids and grown-ups alike can make and decorate cake pops.
WHY: Baked by Yael's cake pops make people happy and we want more people to be able to enjoy them! To thank you for your support, we have some pretty cool rewards. Of course, there are cake pops, but there are also baking classes and the chance to name and create your own cake pop flavor! By contributing to our Kickstarter campaign, you'll be part of the next big thing in the dessert world and one of the first to help Baked by Yael realize a dream to open DC's first cakepoppery!
Right now, we're limited in how many cake pops we can produce and when we can make them. We need our own kitchen space where we can bake with a full staff around the clock. If you live in Washington, DC we want someplace for you to stop by after work to pick up a few cake pops. We need space to have cake pop baking parties and to package large orders to ship around the country. With your help, we can build DC’s very first cakepoppery!
WHEN: As soon as we raise the rest of the necessary start-up capital, we'll sign a lease and begin building the cakepoppery. We've already talked to many business owners, architects, consultants, and others to make sure we're doing everything right. Although we're very eager to open our store, we know that it will take some time, but we're optimistic that the first Baked by Yael cakepoppery will open its doors in November!
Join the movement and get in on the ground floor of something big! Contribute to our Kickstarter campaign and get some sweet rewards in the process.

Risks and challenges
Once we are fully funded, we will sign a lease on a storefront to get our cakepoppery up and running as soon as possible. Our goal is to be open for business in November 2013. We're confident that six months will provide us enough time to build our cakepoppery and be able to send you your Kickstarter rewards.
We will be sure to update you over the next several months. We want you to see how your contribution is being used. We'll also be sure to let you know if there are any unexpected delays.
In the unlikely event that there is a set-back, we will fill your order in our current space. It will be a challenge given our staffing and other constraints, but you have our word that you will receive your Kickstarter reward cake pops.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
