The soundtrack of Project Sen
Chances are you've heard the opening track for Project Sen and have been wanting to hear more from our talented composer/sound engineer Coda! He will be composing over 20 new full length tracks for Project Sen's official soundtrack, which is available as one of our rewards tiers. Here's Coda's word on game music and how it's inspired him to produce original works for Sen:
Hi SDF Members! Ken Snyder (a.k.a. "coda") here to talk about Sen's soundtrack a bit. I'm super happy with the response I've gotten from the music in the trailer, which I wrote as sort of a combination of theme song and opening level BGM for Sen. Since Sen is heavily Megaman-inspired, we considered using lo-fi SNES samples, but after some sketching, we agreed on a more hybrid sound integrating 8-bit chiptune sounds, 16-bit FM sounds, 80's synthpop, and even some dance music. I'm a huge fan of Jake "virt" Kaufman's work on games like Mighty Switch Force and Shantae, both of which feature this same sort of fusion of old and new elements. There's no genre of music I won't try to tackle, and it usually shows in my work when I'm integrating diverse styles of jazz, funk, metal, and EDM. When it comes to video games I'd like to pay tribute to in Sen's soundtrack, the list goes on and on--Megaman (all of them), Sonic 3, Gunstar Heroes, Metroid, Mario Kart, Ripple Dot Zero, obscure PC-98 visual novels...

Hestitation - from Tree of Knowledge (PC-98 visual novel style)
Silver Spoon, from a one-hour competition
I got my start making music in the "demoscene" in college, and worked my way up from doing competitions with friends writing a full song in one hour using a pre-selected set of instruments, to winning major music competitions at several North American demoparties. Recently, I've released Tree of Knowledge - a fictional soundtrack to a retro visual novel - in collaboration with Steven "surasshu" Velema, who has gone on to work on Steven Universe with Aivi Tran. I've also released Tracer, an instrumental concept album covering a range of styles that you may hear in Sen - as well as a NES-style chiptune soundtrack to Alter Ego: Dreamwalker.

Sashimi Secretary (Remix), originally featured in the Android platformer Meganoid
I'm looking forward to writing lots of tracks for the full game - the more we get funded, the more unique songs we can feature in all the stages and characters' theme songs. This will be my biggest, most exciting project yet, and I can't wait to show you what I've been working on!
