Cakeface is a recently formed, independent, grassroots business in Portland, Maine, dedicated to creating affordable specialty baked goods using as much locally and/or organically sourced products possible. Cakeface's founder and sole baker, Jenn Thoman, has been baking for her friends for years, but it wasn't until recently that her pastries began stirring up attention. Cupcakes are in high-demand, and once people try her hazelnut chocolate chip cookies, they're instantly hooked. Now that people are gaga for her gluten-free goodies, she's taking dessert seriously. Thus, Cakeface was born.
She has funded every crumb of her cupcakes out of pocket from the time she preheated her first oven, but now that orders are growing in size and frequency, it's time for the community to pitch in.
Donations allow her to:
- continue sourcing locally and organically
- purchase enough bake-ware in order to have designated contaminant-free pans to offer gluten- and dairy-free treats
- advertise her business so that a) people with special dietary restrictions can find out about this amazing bakery service that caters to THEIR needs, and b) local or otherwise business will have the means to find out about and hopefully contract Cakeface!
...and MOST importantly,
- find a space in the community that Cakeface can rent in order to have a storefront with professional baking equipment where Cakeface can truly blossom.
This business has promise...please help it grow, flourish, and kick some serious baking butt.
