How does it work?
As you saw in our introductory video above, you pour hot water into the drip filter, and it brews the coffee beans as it's dripping, so when you remove the filter from your cup, the coffee is already finished. All you need to do is drink. The difficult steps have been removed by the nature of our "Borsa Filter" technology.
Our goal from this Kickstarter project is making and introducing at least 2 blended flavor coffee lines with Borsa Filter 2. Until now, we bootstrapped and came this far by selling only single origin coffees. While doing a demo in local farmers markets and retail stores, we were asked many times if we carried flavored/blended coffee. But making blended and flavored coffee requires an entirely different set of skills and requirements. There is more initial cost involved for making our unique blend profiles and sourcing the natural flavors. On top of this, there is a tooling fee because the packaging has to be totally different when we add flavors and blend coffee; i.e., Mocha=coffee+chocolate flavor. We need your help to make this happen.
On October, 2013, Scott successfully engineered and tested a new version of Borsa Filter. Although we continuously work on developing a better filter system and taste test, it was not until this moment that we could make a huge difference. We call this "Borsa Filter version 2." It was engineered to bring more robust and flavorful coffee.
Borsa Filter ver.2 has not been applied to what we currently sell in retail stores and online. If the Kickstarter campaign ends successfully with your help, Caffe Borsa will be able to grow with introducing new flavored/blended coffee lines, and our backers will be the very first to try our flavored Hand Drip coffee with Borsa Filter ver.2.
Who We Are:
Scott Choi and Jim Song are two co-founders, who are passionate coffee and tea connoisseurs. We thought that conventional single serve coffee system was cumbersome and expensive as well as bad for the environment. We believe that coffee should be enjoyed without boundaries.
The management team at Caffe Borsa includes decades of combined experience in food and drink product development, sales, and marketing.
Scott "Single Serve Coffee Connoisseur" Choi comes from a background of international trade and marketing. As a COO of Caffe Borsa, Scott focuses coffee quality control, R&D of special filter, and management of everyday operation and sales.
Jim "Mega Travel Enthusiast" Song, once an engineer at Boeing, and now an entrepreneur, brings his technical expertise and food service management experience to the table.
Paul "Finance Magician" Tuan, graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a BA degree in Economics with an emphasis in Corporate Finance. He maintains FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses, and helps with Caffe Borsa financial projections and cash flow management.
Warren "Coffee Specialist" Rickard is one of the very few who taste test our prototypes. The Caffe Borsa roasting team is always working hard to find the best quality coffee from all around the world and roasting at the right time and temperature. As a coffee advisor and a taste specialist of Caffe Borsa, he brings deep knowledge about various coffee brewing and roasting methods. Warren has been employed as a barista at Starbucks, Coffee Bean, and other coffee shops in the past.
Elaine Tedesco, John Markland, and promotion specialists bring years of event marketing experience to the team and help promote the Caffe Borsa brand.
Advisor Joe Di Stanislao, former president of the National Specialty Food Broker Association, demonstrates his understanding of the marketplace with his over 40 years of serving as a broker in the industry.
Foodservice advisor Bill Waldo, former president of Supreme Foodservice, Inc, has over 20 years of experience in food service sales and marketing to hotels, restaurants, and distributors.

Risks and challenges
1. Volatile coffee prices: We either direct trade with farmers or work with direct traders when we purchase coffee beans. We can project how much coffee we need in near future and place an option.
2. Coffee quality control: As volume increases, controlling coffee quality may get tougher. The Caffe Borsa team must schedule cupping meetings to taste test regularly, and obtain professional coffee quality certifications.
3. Delivery of finished products: Caffe Borsa currently has a partnership program with UPS and FedEx. Caffe Borsa can hire part-time co-packers at its warehouse location.
1. Key Management's Health: If Scott or Jim gets sick or severely injured, the manufacturing process may get delayed.
