CactusCon is a hacker conference in Tempe, AZ. Let's keep admission free for all attendees - thanks for your support!
On February 18, 2012, Phoenix saw its first B-Sides security conference. This unprecedented event was a great success, drawing well-known national and local speakers and selling out the first round of 120 tickets in three weeks.
CactusCon is the culmination of lessons learned from B-Sides Phoenix and expanded efforts to meet the needs and expectations of the Phoenix security community.
CactusCon 2013 will be a one-day, multi-track security conference that provides high quality talks and hands-on workshops at no cost to registered attendees. All presenters are members of the security community – there are no vendor pitches. This model is only possible with community support. All funds raised here will be used to offset the cost of our venue, hardware for the interactive conference badges, and attendee swag.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
As a conference, our biggest risks include cancellations by our venue or speakers. We have fallback options for the venue, and we plan to work closely with presenters to avoid issues.
Worst case - we will have alternate speakers or change the date as a last resort. Our plans are already in progress and moving along well.
No. Donations are NOT required for conference registration.
Registration (free!) for CactusCon will open on February 4, after the CFP ends. Kickstarter contributions to help us defray costs are welcome, but not required for attendance. Thanks!
If you pledge, you will get a ticket. If for some reason the conference does not go on as planned, you'll get the donation back.
