I received mine in Australia this morning. It arrived unscathed. Thanks John.
Mine got picked up from the post office today as I was out when they tried to deliver it yesterday. All safe and sound, and very nice to boot!
Alan, It's good to hear from you, safely back from your travels! (Both yourself and your portfolio).
UK, but mine arrived safe and sound at some point when I was away. Thanks John!
That's great to hear! I've been hoping to hear from folks in the UK and AUS/NZ area to say that theirs has arrived. Thanks for sharing that.
Has anyone from AUS/NZ/SG received theirs yet?
Mine turned up today. Hope yours does.
Mine's not arrived here in the UK either.
No sign of my one yet in the UK. :(
I received my package (Germany) today. Vielen Dank
#84 arrived safley today, here in Sweden. The packaging was slightly dented, but the Archive was in perfect shape.
Thanks for confirming what I felt in my gut. I really was 100% confidence in the 5-packs (stacked one on top of the other and taped together like laminated plywood) that went to the comic store retailers. Man, they were so solid, they felt like a brick! I DARE any courier to try to go 'postal' on those, LOL!
Package secure & contents intact! Thanks for the thorough pack-job!
#513 came in via USPS just fine. Normal bumping on the corners of the mailing packaging, but the contents were secure and A-OK. Looking forward to #2... Thanks!
The prints arrived yesterday. No damage at all and it's excellent. Thank you!!
The prints arrived via FedEx in perfect shape to San Antonio, TX. The High Society comic was a nice surprise. I loved the 261 card and I'm not sure whether to sign it or put my reserve number. Thank you for all the hard work! I'm eagerly waiting for the next offering.
I received my package today and it's outstanding!
Congratulations on a great presentation and I'll definitely be back for every set onwards!
Got mine Yesterday!
It looks outstanding and the packaging worked perfectly! Minor abuse to the outside and the contents were completely protected. Very good plan to put it in a bag too. My packages are regularly left where they can get wet because the carriers are not too bright, and it was raining a fair bit yesterday. Cant wait for number 2!
Hi Beanbag Amerika,
I'm really sorry to hear that your package received damage inside. Dave (and I) want you and everyone else to know that we want you to be 100% satisfied and we will replace your portfolio at no cost to you.
I'll contact you via private message to get this started.
Thanks for letting us know right away.
Received my package (USA, FedEx) this morning. The outer box is pretty banged up, and one corner of the archive is nastily bent. Thankfully, the plates themselves are not badly damaged, and would probably flatten out if pressed (left between the pages of an atlas for some time, say). But, quite disappointing.
Picked up my package at Escape Pod Comics in Huntington tonight. What a beautiful store, definitely recommend it to everybody interested in quality comics and a friendly atmosphere to shop in. Made the trip more than worth while. As for the portfolio I couldnt be happier. Everything looks great, very high quality. And the surprise bonus comic signed by Dave was really a nice touch. Much appreciated. This whole experience has been a pleasure. Looking forward to Archive Number 2!
Just want to write that the commuunication and back and forth with us is much appreciated. Too many other campaigns go on radio silence for months on end with no updates. Thank you for the courtesy.
Got the package last week! Everything looks great =]
I've just received my package today (in UK). The postmen weren't nice with the box but the Archive is fine. I assume the box has done its job: protect the Archive.
Thanks for this and see you for Cerebus Archive Number Two!
I received my package on Wednesday.(August 27th) Everything looks great. Love the membership card idea. I can't wait for Cerebus Archive Number 2.
Got the package today and everything looks great! That's a lot of signatures, Dave. I hope your hand survived the process.
Just wanted to let you know I got my package out here on the west coast, and everything worked out beautifully, from the packaging to the contents, etc. Thanks a lot guys!
John: I did indeed receive that signed 'High Society' reprint bonus, thanks! (To be honest, I wasn't quite sure what it was! Thanks for clearing that up.) Yes, the red foil on the outer envelope WAS an inspired touch. What I can't get over, though, is how many 'Dave Sim' signatures were included in this package. Every page in the Archive; the membership card; the above-mentioned reprint bonus; etc etc! (I sure hope Dave's signing hand didn't get TOO cramped!) Anyway, on behalf of all project backers, thank you again for your efforts. Keep up the great work!
Wow, that's great to hear. I was able to upgrade all of the Canadian Canada Post shipments from regular parcel to expedited parcel (same truck, same route, same driver - but if the truck is full, the higher rated services go first!) for the same price, so why not, eh?
I've been waiting for someone to comment on the foil. I proposed it to Dave and he also liked it and thought it added a nice touch. The membership cards were Dave's idea and we printed them and rounded the corners for what I think is an improved look.
The 261 on the membership card was the number of portfolio backers, which represents the mainstay of the campaign. We had only one pledge of $2 fall through unpaid, which is really a great come-through.
The other 'bonus' for all the portfolios is that we included the first printed signature from the High Society re-print that was bad. Dave has signed those as well. I hope you received yours - if not, shoot me a private message.
Thanks for the feedback. We're hoping to hear more feedback from around the globe on how the packaging has held up as well as your comments on the product overall (as we ship out more). Incidentally, I just finished preparing the Australia and what call Rest of World (non EU, non N.A.) and they'll go into the mail tomorrow.
I just wanted to let you know that I received my Cerebus Archive Portfolio today! (Well, technically it arrived yesterday... I picked it up from the local Post Office outlet earlier today.) Anyway, here's my verdict. Packaging: perfect! Archive itself: Outstanding! The red foil on the portfolio envelope was a classy touch. Oh, and I loved the "261" Cerebus Membership Club card... a nice, unexpected bonus! (But does that mean 16 of your original backers didn't come through with their payments?) Overall, the entire package was nicer than I had hoped it would be. Wow. I am already looking forward to Archive #2! Keep 'em comin'!
Hi, just wanted to make sure you got my message so I can pick up my portfolio at Escape Pod Comics in New York when its ready.
It's here! It's here! My portfolio arrived this morning here in Kitchener! I haven't opened it yet - no time to savour the unboxing right now - but the packaging itself looks pristine, so I'm sure the contents are fine ... Thanks again Dave and crew!
Here are a couple of links for more information on a Cerebus Action Figure that George Peter Gatsis is developing in accordance with Dave's specifications:
http://www.cerebusdownloads.com/index2actionFigure.html (this page is under development at time of posting, but check it periodically for an update).
John Funk (on behalf of Dave Sim)
I would be all-in for some classic merchandizing of Cerebus. I want action figures! 1/6 scale and 1/16 scale at least. Plus some cool t-shirts and posters.
Huge pats on the back for all 277 of you (we) backers. At $33,000, Dave should be able to get going on actually getting Cerebus and High Society back in print, instead of worrying about how to pay the bill. See all of you back here in two months or so.
So glad to see how successful this project was. Also glad I checked in because I had to update my credit card info!!! Congrats to Dave and John for a job well done. Looking forward to the next archive. Keep 'em coming!
Ok, it's after 8pm and Dave may have had to leave the coffee shop as they are closing up.
So I'll make the announcement about the eBay auction for the ORIGINAL artwork that Dave sketched for the Bookplate Reward. Here's the eBay link:

### SHOUT OUT ####
Daniel W. Cisek: SHOUT OUT PRAYER! PLEASE HELP MY DOG REMY'S LEGS NOT HURT SO MUCH AND LET HER REST WITH LESS PAIN!
Dave - we're at 277! (after I refreshed).
Are you going to announce the eBay auction before they lock the doors? Should I?
SHOUT OUT PRAYER! PLEASE HELP MY DOG REMY'S LEGS NOT HURT SO MUCH AND LET HER REST WITH LESS PAIN!
FINAL SHOUT OUT TO: THE 272!! LOOKS LIKE THAT'S OUR FINAL FIGURE! NICE AND SYMMETRICAL. OKAY, ONE LAST CHECK OF THE MESSAGES. THEY'RE TURNING THE CHAIRS UP ONTO THE TABLES AND I'M THE ONLY ONE STILL IN ONE OF THEM! THANKS EVERYONE!
I'm on it.
I guess anyone can chime in and help answer question 37.
JAKE CAPPS! JAKE CAPPS! JAKE CAPPS! Howdy, Jake! Let me see: Scott Fitzgerald, I would read THE BEAUTIFUL AND DAMNED. Oscar Wilde PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY. Hemingway A MOVEABLE FEAST. To understand the TONE of JAKA'S STORY I WOULD suggest watching the movie version of GYPSY. Jaka of JAKA'S STORY is very much based on Rose Louise. Theodore White's THE MAKING OF THE PRESIDENT 1960.
Norman Mailer. If you don't want to read Mailer himself, I'd suggest MAILER: HIS LIFE AND TIMES. A guy who dealt with a multiplicity of levels to Reality and how people who really only dealt with "here and now" dealt with him. Gore Vidal's essays. Those would be the most influential stuff.
