Thanks again, everyone. Thanks for pledging, sharing, congratulating, supporting and being along for the ride.
I'm excited to get it made now! ^_^
Congrats on funding Bez :)
this was actually the most excited I've been about funding something on here. haha, down to the wire. congrats
WOW! Congratulations Bez, you really deserve this. I'm so happy for you and for me too. I've also got the keys for my neighbour cat. He is called Dusty. I met you once in a pub in Brighton when you were testing In A Bind.
Boom goes the dynamite
Hurray! Well done on funding - was sure you would do it. Good to exceed £5K too.
Congrats on the successful final hour push!
Bez the last hour was like a tense 100 metres sprint to the finish line. Congrats now the last few minutes you can enjoy your victory lap of honour hooray
Congratulations! I can’t wait to see the finished box with the gold print.
Fantastic! Huge Congrats Bez!!
congratulations from backer #265 - as far as i can calculate i´m the first "bonus backer" after funding...
261 = 26*10 +1.
10x the alphabet!!!
That's bloody amazing!
YESSSSS! :D congrats! Was thinking about this all day!!!
We did it!
I think this is going to happen.
I need to go outside for a minute. My head feels ready to explode, figuratively speaking.
£51 left! We’re nearly there!!!!!
I upped mine to 4 yesterday.
WE ARE ALMOST THERE!
KEEP GETTING SECOND COPIES PEOPLE!
Just increased my pledge!
Come on guys we are soooo close!!!
Its so upsetting as you are so very close. If only you could extend by one day!
I pleased to hear that you have such a logical and stable plan. I only hope it doesnt come to that.
I hate typing out such things as I'm still very uncertain in my own mind and typing stuff out feels like I'm giving it more firmness than is the reality.
Yes, I have thought about it. Specially over the start of this week.
My current inclination would be to just carry on selling 1st edition, finish the rulesheets anyway (but not spend actual money on proof-reading), continue making new games for the deck and aim for an August 2019 release of 2nd edition if I can't raise funds to print it and get it out this summer. As tempting as it would be to just try again almost straight away, I don't think that would be healthy or fair - to myself or to all the folk I've asked to help out and share this project.
Given Brexit, my current thoughts are to try and print all my 2019 things much earlier, so that I'm not as affected. So it may be that next year's things end up being sent out in March, but only officially go into shops in August. A lot depends on how things work out with the Brexit and new customs/import/export laws.
It won't be ruinous to my life. I mean, it'll be fairly dispiriting and I'll have to think carefully about stuff going forwards. But I'll still be able to work on Wibbell++ as a whole and it'll still be something I'm very much motivated to do.
It'll just mean that the future progress of what's physically available will be a bit slower than I'd hoped.
The new game sounds great.
Have you thought about what you will do if you dont meet your funding goal?
No problem, will keep the second as a gift or as a spare - I love the idea of Mickell :-)
Thank you so much for all your support!
I need to have a think, but in the absence of anything super-important to do with that space (other than a strange whim I have regarding the barcode) I'm increasingly leaning towards doing that. :-)
I've intentionally tried to avoid games that require multiple decks.
Some games (perhaps Grabbell and Wibbell out of the first 7 'core' games) can arguably benefit from a doubled deck. You can then play with more than 7 players without the games getting too fast.
The only problem is that separating out the decks would then be a bit annoying and a single deck is really preferable for a lot of the other games.
I have a pipe-dream of making a game for one player called Mickell. Multiple people could simultaneously play this game - drawing cards in the same order, kinda like Karuba/Take it Easy. If many people play it (e.g. at a convention) then each would need their own deck. And it would be called 'muckell'.
That's of course a proverbial allusion and I wouldn't buy extra copies for that one thing, which is still very much just an initial idea.
Buying multiple sets is intended as good value but I expect most people to either keep them in multiple locations (e.g. one at work, one in the house), keep one shrink-wrapped if you're that way inclined, or give them away as presents for Christmas/birthday/etc.
I hope that the expanded rulesheets will make this collection of games super-accessible to non-gamers and everyone.
Upgraded to two sets - can you use them as expansions?
I think its a lovely idea.
I am really hoping this will fund. I cant think of any more places to share it. I keep checking back and its getting closer....
Question - how would folk feel about me putting EVERYONE's name on the box if it funds? Would that seem exciting, or cheesy/unwanted?
I am still not sure what I'm doing with the inside of the bottom of the box. This is the part of the box that is invisible until you open it up.
I'd like to do whatever excites people the most, whilst keeping it as something that folk are excited to get out and show other folk.
Thanks for backing and for the wishes! I'm glad that you managed to find it! ^_^
Thanks for the lovely message. Glad you're enjoying iAB and I hope that this deck will give you even more years of joy. :-)
We just discovered this game and are now backers! Finger crossed for the finish line!
Fingers crossed for you, anything can happen in the last 48 hours. I love In a Bind, so simple, yet awesome, and am really looking forward to playing this to 🤞
Thanks so much!
Yep, I hope it hits too (although I'm very biased...)
Because of the usual rush in the final 48 hours, the project still stands a chance, but it's gonna be super-tense and close whatever happens.
Nearly there Bez, you can do it!
i hope this game hits the goal :0 looks really fun
Thanks for all the kind words! You're welcome anytime you can make it over. :-)
And yeah - I am proud of the accessibility of these games and thanks to the new rulesheets I hope this will be an even better gift. (But, as always, I am - of course - biased.)
Hey Bez - Great to catch Wibbell++ on Kickstarter this time round - the playtests I was involved in were so much fun and the games are so simple I feel I could share this with anyone and have a great time! It’s got to have been a good year or more since I’ve been able to make it to a playtest night - hope to catch up with you at one soon though! Good luck for the rest of the campaign! Jamie
Thanks for offering to help!
Honestly, I think that simply getting the deck, removing the few cards I suggest and then giving me feedback will be super-helpful.
As I touched upon in the update I just posted, all the improvements are basically because of feedback and observations. For 'adaptation suggestions', feedback on what feels odd will help me make better suggestions for everyone else playing in French.
When the time eventually comes that I can afford to make a brand-new edition for the French language, I would absolutely love the help of as many people as I can get.
@Sven, many thanks for all your support! ^_^ There are still 1st edition decks available, but I think the improvements are worth the extra £.
Thanks for your answer!
It would be a pleasure to help you adjusting the set of cards forFrench language.
Let me know how I could help!
Never got my hands on the first edition so I'm glad it's getting re printed.
- Good luck Bez, from all at Settlers Cafe in Hamilton :)
The distribution of letters is optimised for the English language. However, I have several French friends who have enjoyed Wibbell itself.
I think that H, W and U are the main points of difference. (Too few Us, too many Hs/Ws.)
I would suggest that you could remove 4 of the 5 Hs and 2 Ws and then all 6 games might work well in French? Not as well as if I'd designed it from the ground up, but many of these games are quite 'forgiving' anyway by their nature.
For Grabbell/Alphabetickell I'd suggest playing with the full deck.
Obviously, if I were to make a new deck optimised for French language, it would be better. But I'd love to work with you to work out an optimal set of cards to remove from the English 2nd edition to 'mod' it for French. I think it should be reasonably easy.
Coupell will be the most challenging for adaptation of the 6 current core games.
Is the game playable with French language? I mean, is the repartition of letters compatible with French?
Without hesitation more of Bez’s stuff to sit proudly on my games shelf. All the best with the campaign Bez I’m sure it will be a succes. Looking forward to it already
Hi guys, thank you all for backing! ^_^
Lovely to meet you last weekend Chris, and so glad that you 2 (Dave/Han) are continuing to enjoy it. :-)
Yay! Wibbell is back! I've had so much fun with the set I got during your last Kickstarter that backing this upgraded version is a no-brainer. This way I can keep the old set at work and the newer one at home so I can Wibbell whenever the mood strikes!
My kids and I really enjoyed playing the different games in the first edition. Lots of Fun and varied games in a deck that fits in your pocket. Looking forward to seeing second edition. Good luck Bez
I was lucky enough to meet Bez last weekend at the 'Birmingham Boardgame Bash' and play some of the Wibbell++ games. The first-edition cards we used were really well designed and the games well thought-out, so I am happy to be able to back this Kickstarter.
