Who We Are:
Butter & Scotch is the partnership of Keavy Blueher of Kumquat Cupcakery (aka Butter) and Allison Kave of First Prize Pies (definitely Scotch). Soon-to-be (with the help of Kickstarter!) Brooklyn's first dessert & craft cocktail bar. (You can check out gorgeous photos of our desserts & general antics on our Instagram page).
Here's the Deal:
We've already raised most of what we need in order to open (it's sitting tight in a savings account), but we are looking for help to raise the last little bit required to sign a lease and move forward with our big plan.....
The Big Plan:
Butter & Scotch: a.k.a. Brooklyn's first dessert and craft cocktail bar. A fun, inviting place where you can enjoy two of the best inventions of humankind: sweets & booze. The funds we'll raise through Kickstarter will enable us to sign a lease, build out our dream space, and open our doors to you, our hungry and thirsty patrons!
$50,000 can pay for a lot of crucial stuff: kitchen equipment (we're not using your grandma's oven!), buildout costs, licenses (most importantly, our liquor license!), and payroll (somebody's gotta make all those sweets), among many other expenses. It's not cheap to create such an incredible destination, but we think it's worth every penny.

Where You Come In:
We're looking for supporters who believe in us and our Big Plan to help take us over the top. If everyone who loves food, drink, local small businesses, women entrepreneurs, and drunk bakers chips in, we'll be able to go forward and sign a lease on our very first brick and mortar store!

Risks and challenges
The main challenges we'll face will be about timing. Do we hope that as soon as we've got this money in the bank we'll find the perfect space and sign the perfect lease? Of course! Do we recognize that this might not happen as quickly as we hope? Yes, we do. We ask that our backers understand this too, and be patient should delays arise. Issues with lease negotiations, permits, licensing, and buildout can cause setbacks and delays, and that might mean delays in reward fulfillment, depending on which reward you choose.
That said, we live, breathe, eat, and drink this business, and we are beyond impatient to open our doors and start foisting sweets and boozy treats on our beloved customers! Between the two of us, and our super-knowledgable and supportive friends, family, and colleagues, we have a great team of people on our side to help us make it past any obstacles.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
