Dear Backers: Staples Inc., the mega-office store, is recruiting new products to sell. They have teamed up with Fundable.com for the "Crowd2Shelf" contest, and Hydrobee is a semi-finalist! There is a voting campaign on now that ends TOMORROW Sept 30, and your vote will help us become one of 25 finalists. These 25 then will run a crowd-funding campaign to pre-sell the products and show Staples' buyers that we have a hot product they want to carry.

Please VOTE HERE for Hydrobee on the Crowd2Shelf contest!

You will need to enter a email address - any email address! And, you can vote again tomorrow! Please help us, so we get noticed by Staples. As you can imagine, it's really hard to get picked up as a product by Staples, because they are so big and have so much choice in the market. You can really help Hydrobee make a huge market entrance if we get into the crowdfunding finals.

Updates! The Autodesk Inventing the Future blog features Hydrobee this month. We are Autodesk Clean Tech Partners, and use their fabulous software to design our products. With their new Fusion 360 CAD product we can design "in the cloud" and collaborate in real time on design with people anywhere in the world.

We are deeply honored to have as a new Advisor, Mr. Warren Evans. Warren recently retired from the World Bank after 8 years as the Director of the Environment Department. Warren is an old friend of Burt Hamner, Hydrobee president, from their days working in SE Asia promoting clean technologies. Warren will help us understand how to enter emerging markets and join his vast network of contacts around the world. He'll be handing out Hydrobees to the presidents of countries, and keeping our name visible in Washington DC and global development networks.

Frank Martinez and Frank Sanborn have joined the Board of Advisors. Both of them spent many years at Microsoft. Frank Martinez was a Program Manager at Microsoft Research and a leader in the Lab of Things program making smart hardware solutions. Frank Sanborn was Microsoft's Rural Incubation Program Manager working in the Unlimited Potential emerging market group focusing on building sustainable software, services, solutions and business models to improve people’s lives for those living at BOP (Bottom of the Pyramid) in rural areas of India/ China/ Asia/ Africa. See our Blog for more info.

Our Smart Hardware capabilities just got a big boost. We signed a Memorandum of Agreement with OSS Cube, a leading developer of open source software solutions, to partner with us as we learn more how to connect to the global networks. Their leaders are largely from India and have a deep commitment to solutions for international development. And they like gadgets!

Thank you to everyone who followed us in the R/GA Accelerator for Connected Hardware in New York City. We did not get accepted, but it was a long shot, as the competition was intense with hundreds of applicants. But, in applying we really improved our product concept for connection to the Internet and for micro-financing over mobile payment systems. See the new page Smart Hardware on the Hydrobee website!

Thanks to those of you who have completed our online survey to improve the design of the new PowerBee personal renewable energy power system. We have over 200 respondents so far and great input from many people. The short survey asks what features of the PowerBee are most desirable, where it is likely to be used, the user profile, and a few other questions. Everyone who responds will be entered into a drawing to win an iPad Mini! If you have not seen the survey it is here. Please give us 2 minutes of your time to make our product better? Thanks! The Hydrobee Blog has several updates including new data about the size of the off-grid personal energy market in developing countries, estimated at $12 billion a year and growing.
