Origins of Malu is a universe teeming with freedom, creativity, and power; the power to be who you want to be and the ability to play how you want to play. We have heard the voices of fellow gamers, and we are here to answer the call. We are an Indie Studio developing this world the way the community has been asking for years. This is a game built by gamers for gamers.
Our goal is to bring soul into our world by immersing players into a rich environment filled with detailed story lines and interactive game play. Our narrative adds depth to the otherwise shallow market currently available.
But our game has more than a good story; we offer original stunning visuals that are beyond the status quo. Below is just a taste of our upcoming features and concepts for the game.
No Class Restrictions– We didn't want to limit players with a traditional class system, but we still appreciate its form and function. Origins of Malu provides classless game play where you can customize your character free of most limits. Dive into different specializations that tailor your personal fighting style. Still crave traditional class systems? No worries, you can still build characters to fulfill certain roles and specialize them to the fullest extent.
Meet the Neighbors- Now, nobody said Malu was the kindest place in the world, but rest assured that there will be a fair share of delightful fluffies to warm up with at night. These creatures are incredibly intelligent being equip with master AI devices that learn your every move and they will actually track you down, sometimes with some close buddies too. Better invest in some weaponry and armor quick, because ole' Snuggle Muffins hasn't eaten in some time....(like 15 minutes or so....).
Open World Structures – Ever find the perfect plot of land and want to build a house there? While other games say no, Origins of Malu offers you great freedom in housing creation. We devoted a significant amount of time into ensuring players can take full advantage of our sandbox housing. Our system creates the least amount of restrictions while providing you with the inventive tools to build your house the way you want to build it.
Powerful Crafting System - Battles are important, but we didn’t forget about crafting! The importance of crafting will range from day-to-day purposes; such as building unique types of materials for housing and tweaking magic spells, as well as include managing your crafting skill set to cultivate and maintain your environment. With Kick starter backing, we will be able to get our main systems for crafting implemented for release (armor, weapons and housing materials) while continuing to work towards a very robust system.
Skill based PVP / PVE System - Are you a fan of FPS games, want aiming and hit boxes in an MMO? We have it! Do you prefer a tab and fire and forget we have a version of that as well and of course hit box based melee combat as well! Origins goal is to be a SKILL based game yes gear will help but in the end of the day we wanted to model yourself after games where if you are skilled and lowered gear you still have an advantage
Power to the People (Player Controlled Factions) - Can you handle the power to create your own society? While a position of influence can bring prosperity and peace, power can also bring a volatile blend of discord and conflict among your people. Use it wisely as you create your own guild and join up with other guilds to create a larger faction. These factions hold evolving territory so no server will be identical. For example, if a faction dominates a server for months, we will provide the tools for uprising. The success of your possible rebellion is up to you. Moreover, creating an uprising does not promise an easy life either. There will be no PVE or PVP servers. The fate of the server is in your hands.
Flexible Payment Model - Like subscriptions, we will have a low monthly subscription cost if you just to prefer to pay and forgot. Are you more of a fan of F2P, we have a model you will like as well. You get a limited number of lives per day but you will have the SAME access to content as subscribers!

We are doing best to make sure you get the best bang for your buck!, We have changed our rewards a bit, feel free to migrate yourself to a the new tiers if you are on a older reward tier.
Let’s start off by clearing the air, so to speak. Some of you might ask yourself “Didn’t these guys do a Kickstarter already?” And you would be absolutely correct in asking that question. Burning Dog did launch a Kickstarter campaign but ultimately cancelled it within a couple days and refunded everybody’s pledges.
The next question you’d most likely ask is, “What’s different this time around?” or, “Why did you cancel?”. Both of those questions are related. The reason we ended up cancelling the last Kickstarter is because within hours of launching the campaign we were contacted by some publishers interested in Origins of Malu. Since we could not anticipate how those negotiations would play out or the timeline they would be conducted under, we decided that instead of stringing people along, we would be fair and cancel the campaign while it was still early.
While last time we were looking for a more significant sum, you will notice that this time around our goal is quite a bit smaller. The reason is that we are looking to release this long gestating game out to the public within the next few months, however to do that we need people with some very specific skill sets. If you've been following Origins of Malu, you probably know that we have made it this far by relying entirely on our own resources and time. That has been very challenging and has greatly impacted our ability to meet commitments, as you can imagine how difficult it can be to retain talent in this type of scenario. This Kickstarter campaign is going to help pay for some temporary, but essential, talent to bring our game to launch.

This our primary focus. Many of our systems are close to initial completion but we just don't currently have the manpower to get them to a launch ready state within a reasonable timeline. Securing experienced developers will be a huge step towards an efficient release.
Additional funds raised beyond the target goal will go towards the creation of more great animations and assets for the world!
We are as eager as you are to see this game launch. But one of the things we promised very early on is that we would not sacrifice on quality. We are now only a few months from realizing that goal, but need the community’s help in making that happen.

Realistically the risks are low for completion. There are inherent risks when contracting, though for obvious reasons it's far less difficult scheduling around paid contractors than it is with volunteers. The only real risk for us is taking too much time to release, and that's why we need your support!
Our main challenges come down to:
- getting qualified people for the job
- ensuring efficient development and completion of our base systems
- internal & alpha testing, bug tracking and fixing

Currently it is PC only, however the engine maker (Big world) is working on an Mac client but no release is currently announced
