About this project
I want to take gaming terrain to the next level. Tabletop gaming is about strategy, tactics, modeling, painting and the excitement of the game. When you spend hours working on your miniatures you want affordable terrain that will enhance all the work you've done.
All the laser cut terrain will be scaled and textured to look more realistic. By burning in shadows around stone, brick work and undercuts it will move the terrain from 2D to 2.8D. Currently all the laser cut terrain has a coloring book line drawings 2D effect or a dollhouse wood layering effect that looks cartoonish.
Walkways, catwalks and balconies will be able to handle the different base size of all game miniatures. Building levels will lift off so you can play inside the buildings and the doors will open and close for those game rules that use this as an action.
The examples below shows the difference between 2D and 2.8D. By burning the texture at different depths the textures will come out with a more realistic feel. By painting, washing and drybrushing you can see the depth and curves that come with stone and brick.
All buildings, ground tiles and accessories are designed modular so that you can build your terrain anyway you like with an endless assortment of table layouts and looks like the image below. All terrain modules fit together whether they are Sci-Fi, Steampunk, Victorian or what ever comes to my vivid imagination.
To build the modular layout above I used parts of a Tower Set, a Shield Wall Set and a Weapons Platform Set. By using a Tower Set, a Shield Wall Set and a Weapons Platform Set you can build a frontline defense measuring 37 inches.
****************** PLEASE NOTE ******************
Until I get my own laser machine I have to have my prototypes produced by an outside source and not all of the cut through were done.
THE AREAS WITH RED X's WILL BE CUT OUT IN THE FINISHED PRODUCT.
In the photo above you get a good idea of how large the tower is, as well as, how it breaks down into 3 sections. Note the figure on the top section.
The tower comes with 6 extra walls like those above.
The trench set comes with four 6" section, two 3" corners and two 6" X 6" bunkers.
Each tower will come with 2 sliding doors like the bulkhead on the right with the door sliding up. These bulkheads are still on the drawing board as shown above.
A Shield Wall comes in 3 sections and is 12 inches long. The Shield Wall Set includes 4 of the 12 inch sections.
A good example of what I call 2.8D is shown above in the the Shield Wall floor. The metal grading is cut 1/16 of an inch into the wood giving a depth very close to 3D.
In the picture above I created a trench by placing 2 shield walls back to back. By using the weapons platforms (shown below) as intersections the designs are endless.
I just finished the design for the Trench set 3" X 6" and corner. Bunkers will come later and will connect to the trench seamlessly.
The Weapons Platform Set includes 2 platforms.
There are 5 designs for shield walls. These designs will have towers to match.
The tower shown in this project is human
In the picture above are chaos and alien 1.
In the picture below are alien 2 and alien 3.
I was asked what made the Human Tower a Chaos Tower. So here's an Example of the Chaos Tower Wall below.
Above are the walls for a Alien and Human corrador
I have many more ideas in mind. Industrial Terrain like this abandoned factory complex with ground and street tiles. see below
Victorian buildings from the east side of London's White Chapel with cobblestone, scollop shell roads and alleyways. And a line of structures on the drawing board that are heavy Steam Punk.
Everything is designed at 28mm but 15mm will be available with no loss of detail in the textures.
When we reach $10,000 all backers will get an added Shield Wall for their pledge of $20.00 or more.
When we reach $15,000 all backers will get an added Weapons Platform for their pledge of $20.00 or more.
When we reach $18,000 all backers will get an added Tower Kit for their pledge of $10.00 or more.
Risks and challenges
Estimated delivery dates included in this page are indeed estimates and are subject to change. I have only offered my Sci-Fi line of products to assure that I will be able to get the rewards out to those who have made pledges.
I have a plan but unknown factors may delay the process and cause the delivery date to be later than expected.
Other designs will be offered as stretch rewards.
The amount I have fixed as my goal covers laser equipment, as well as, materials needed to produces the rewards.
As soon as the laser equipment and materials are up and running, my first task will be producing rewards for my backers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
