Every Friday, for more than four years, I've been publishing a helpful tip on my blog, Oh, The Glamourous Life. While created with the burlesque world in mind, the tips are helpful for performers, costumers, and anyone who wants to live a better and more glamourous life. We've decided to collect a select number of my favorite tips into an attractive little self-published volume.
I'm delighted and honored to announce that Jo "Boobs" Weldon, Headmistress of the New York School of Burlesque and author of The Burlesque Handbook, is writing the foreword!
This campaign was created to raise funds for the publication by pre-selling copies of the book. I'm trying to keep costs low and still have a quality book. Our plan is for a small volume, 4 inches by 6, with a tip on every page, some with a bit of an explanatory essay, and some charming and appropriate Victorian images.
If we reach our goal, $500, we'll publish the book as planned with 65 tips, about 70 pages, all in black and white. <-- MADE IT!
If we reach $100 over that, I can afford to add some more pages to the book, giving you 5 more useful tips. <-- MADE IT!
At $750, I'll add 10 more tips! <--- MADE IT!
If we reach a stretch goal of $1000.00, we'll add in some lovely color pages here and there. <-- MADE THIS ONE TOO!
MADE STRETCH GOAL #4! Because we know you're going to have a favorite tip, if we get to $1250, every copy of Miss Mina Murray's Little Book of Better Burlesque will come with a bookmark, so you are never tempted to dogear this marvelous manuscript. The bookmark, like the book, is chock-full of useful information!
If we reach $1500... the first 100 books will have brass bookmarks, instead of the heavy duty paper ones.
Risks and challenges
The text is written, the layout is in process, and we've chosen a publisher. The only real challenge to publishing the book is to have enough pre-sales that I can cover some of the publishing costs. One way or another, this book is going to happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
