About this project
Burdened Films is a group of filmmakers telling the story of God's love through film. It's headed up by Brandon Geiger and Tim Noah. You may not of heard of Burden Films, but some amazing things are happening. "Snow" is going to be our second short film we've produced. If you haven't seen our first film, you can watch it here:
Even though our first film was only 11 minutes long, it took 4 days of production, over 200+ hours of post-production, licensing fees, about $18,000 of gear, and lots of prayer and support from friends and family.
We received tons of positive feedback and heart-felt messages from people that have been touched by divorce. God did some cool things. We also partnered up with Divorce Care, an amazing organization that handles divorce from a Godly perspective. They loved what we were doing so much, they sent our film to over 7,500 of their leaders.
To make all this happen we had to cut checks from our own personal checking accounts. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to do that again.
That is where you can help.
If you're new to Kickstarter, let me tell you how great it is. I've personally backed several projects and it's a safe and fun way to support people you care about. Kickstarter is the world's largest funding platform for creative projects. That's why we've decided to use Kickstarter. Through Kickstarter you can become part of the Burdened Films family. Help us tell an amazing story of God's love through this film.
So what is this film about?
Excellent question. "Snow" is the story of a girl who is haunted by something very dark in her past. She's burdened with the shame, and she can't seem to forgive herself and move on. That's where love finds her. We see grace falling from heaven like tiny snow flakes. That's all I'm giving you without telling you too much :)
What are you contributing?
Another good question. Tim and I are collectively putting over $24,000 worth of gear into the pot, as well as our time, energy, and ideas. When I say "time" I use that term loosely. I spent over 120 hours in pre-production on our last film between emails, trying to secure shoot locations, and meeting with people. So really this is more like a part-time job for me. Oh, and p.s. I'm not earning a dime for any of this. In fact, I'm expecting to put some of my own money towards this campaign. Why? Because I think what this film has to say is worth it.
What am I contributing?
Glad you asked. We need to raise enough funds to produce this film, and we need you to donate. Please don't give out of obligation. If you don't get what we are doing here or have questions, you can email me. Having said that, you are making a direct contribution to building God's kingdom, at least that's how we see it. If you don't have the money to donate, don't feel alienated, we still need your prayers. Maybe send us an encouraging tweet or email. Or you could promote us on your Facebook. Whatever your level of involvement, we appreciate it. Come be a part of what we are doing in whatever way you can.
We've already started pre-production on this film. We've reserved the necessary snow machines we need. We have the necessary livestock on hold. We are still looking for two shoot locations. We are in the middle of reviewing the 150+ casting applicants we've received. Shooting is set to take place at the end of March. We should have a final product ready to be released by June.
If you are interested in keeping up with us during shooting, you can follow us at @burdenedfilms.
The End Product
We are anticipating the end product to be between 3-5 minutes. We want this to be a film people could show at their church as part of a message.
I'd like to give a shout out to my friend Andrea Marie for letting us use her track "Follow" for this video.
