As shepherd Caril is trying to protect a fleeing girl from mysterious persecutors, he comes to witness unbelievable powers emerging from the woman, repelling her pursuers.
On the run Caril learns that this girl, named Dawn, has been experiencing these powers for many years now, unable to control them in times of emotional stress. As they approach a nearby town, the two will soon learn that Dawn is not the only one …
Shunned by peasants and chased by mysterious men, they travel the lands of Kalea, looking for answers and meeting new friends. What is the nature of these forces? Where do they come from? Who are the strangers on their heels? And what is their intent?
It's on you to guide the two and their five friends on a fantastic adventure through ancient ruins, gloomy woods and hidden cities to unravel the mystery of a past long forgotten and discover the source of arcane powers.

In a world, whose magic just came alive, magic is experienced as an alien force of unknown nature, evoked by emotional outbursts. Without scientific research of these mysterious forces, there's no spells to chose from or tomes to study.
Those gifted with these powers can unleash them in times of danger or need, yet unable to control the exact nature of the effects they evoke; instead, the character's nature and the current situation influence the effect called. Only as they advance on their quest, will they start to learn to handle these forces and gain the ability to choose an emotion to channel into magic and, later on, a specific effect to cause.
With two additional traits – emotional control and emotional strength – and seven feelings of differing intensity, not only do your characters' personalities influence the outcome of magic usage, but also the experiences and encounters they make during their journey.
In April 2012, Tassilo gathered a team of highly talented, gaming-addicted professionals from the games industry summing up to a total of 45 years of business experience and having joined forces to create nothing less but the game of their dreams.
Among the titles we've been working on you'll find names like AION, Jagged Alliance Online, Rainbow Moon and Settlers 7, War of the Worlds and Lords and Knights.

Become part of the game: You've got the option to become an actual part of the game. Find your name on one of the game's elements like a place or weapon – ever dreamed of wielding a "Sword of <Your Name>" or walk through the "Mists of <Your Name>"? Now is the time! You can even get transformed into one of the player- or nonplayer-characters by our outstanding character-artist Anako and find yourself in a fantastic world. We aim to bring you the most wonderful gaming experience. To do so, we'd like to add some elements to the game of which we're sure you'd love them – we do so. If you help us reach the goals below, we'll be able to add the mentioned stretchgoals.
$55,000: With this goal reached, we'll be able to add another scenery set to the game including new areas to explore and sidequests to solve, two new creatures and two new NPCs. We'll also be adding another song. This will sum up to hours of additional gameplay.
$62,000: Reaching this will enable us to offer Android-support to Days of Dawn – play it wherever you are. We'll also add in cross-platform savegames for all supported platforms. Play on-the-go on your tablet and continue playing on your PC when home.

Where are we, what is left to do? So far, the basic story and concept are finished. We have yet completed about 10% of the games assets working part-time on Days of Dawn, written about 40% of the quests and dialogues.
Our most important to-dos:
- Finish the quests and dialogues and implement them into the game
- Redo all player-character animations with motion-capturing
- Completion of inventory-, emotion- and battle-system
- Create magical effects and items
Based on our progress so far and the possibility to work full-time on Days of Dawn as soon as we succeed in this campaign, completion of the game is to be expected at about February 2014.
To give you insight into our progress, we will start a closed beta available exclusively to our backers about two months after the ending of our successful kickstarter-campaign.

Risks and challenges
Creating a roleplaying video-game is probably one of the hardest goals to accomplish in making games. This is why we have gathered a team of experienced professionals from the gaming industry. With our ten people-team summing up to a total of 45 years in the business (and even more outside of it), each team-member is an expert in his fields and full of love and ambitions for Days of Dawn. Tassilo, the team leader and creator of the story and concept, has been in the business for over ten years and is an academically trained writer. The teammembers have also been responsible for many highly acclaimed and successful gaming titles in the past. We love jRPGs like ChronoTrigger, Final Fantasy and Lufia. Our goal is to create a western take on those games with an original look and story. That's why we call it w(estern)j(apan)RPG.
First, we found people interested in investing into this game outside of kickstarter through our first round. Second, we removed some of the more optional features: Android-version, german language and some areas not crucial to the storylines have been transformed into stretchgoals. We will put these features back into the game as soon as we reach specific fundinggoals (see Stretchgoals above). We are very happy to be able to offer a much more reachable goal to you.
