Battlestation: Harbinger is a hard sci-fi space exploration game blending roguelike, turn-based star map strategy and real-time space battles. Released in August 2015 it has been praised by its community for bringing something truly new and unique to the sci-fi roguelike category. This campaign will help take Harbinger to the next level, allowing us to release it on PC and make it better than ever!
You are a young commander given the task to venture out into enemy territories, far away from home to unknown galaxies, never knowing what you will face as you jump out from hyperspace.
You will have to make decisions regarding your fleet and equipment, face surprising challenges, and battle fiercely for survival as you defend humanity.
Strategy, tactics and resource management is the core of Battlestation: Harbinger, plan your ship offenses and defenses, counter the weapons of enemies and make the right decisions when maneuvering your fleet.
The turn-based star map offers you possibilities to lure your enemies into traps or use distress beacons to create distractions. You can determine your jump point in a sector using the sector scanner, giving you more strategic options to surprise and defeat your enemy. Command your fighter squadrons and concentrate fire with your fleet to take down enemy shields and penetrate their hull in epic real-time space battles, giving you a lot of eye candy and plenty of gameplay depth.
With over 10 000 copies sold Battlestation: Harbinger has been praised by the press and players, creating a solid community for the game. Watch NeptuneNookGames play the original version of Battlestation: Harbinger. Harbinger will be available on PC January 2016, with a reworked user interface and better fitted for PC overall.
We have put 1 year of work into Battlestation: Harbinger; it has received a lot of praise, and we therefore want to continue developing it. We want it to be the best game it can be, and that means we need to make improvements, as suggested by our very enthusiastic community of players. However, both we and our community feel that the game could be even better with some improvements.
Here are some of the feature requests that we are working on implementing:
As hard-core PC gamers ourselves we developed Harbinger to be a game that could provide great depth and strategy both on PC and mobile. Now, after releasing Harbinger on mobile first, we will re-work the user interface to make Harbinger be outstanding on PC as well.
Battlestation: Harbinger extended edition will feature all the familiar races from the Battlestation universe. The races you face, and in which order, are randomized for every new game, giving you a lot of replay value.
Existing missions will be polished and new missions added to the mission pool of the game. Expect to face more thought out missions, adding further to the Battlestation: Harbinger experience.
New drones will be added to the drone and fighter pool of the game, giving you more options to to choose from regarding hangars. Existing drones will be balanced better so that all of them will be viable choices and have good strengths towards certain races.
A variety of new turrets will be added to the game, above are just some of the new turrets planned for Battlestation: Harbinger. We will also rebalance the existing turrets in the game based on your feedback. Expect to have some fun equipping these weapons of destruction.
New ships will be added and current ones balanced so that ships without hangars will also be a viable choice. We aim to bring the player more variety to the ship choices, making it possible to choose any ship and still prevail.
Battlestation: Harbinger Extended Edition will have a bigger variety of environmental effects. These include various black holes, electromagnetic storms, defunct space stations, distant battles, traps and more. These environmental effects will influence ships and the battles they fight, giving you additional strategic options.
Humanity had grown past the capacity of earth to support it. In the year 2259, colony ships were sent out on a mission to explore and colonize new worlds. What followed was an eventful time for humans, as new habitable planets were discovered and as numerous alien species were encountered. Conflicts were inevitable, but in the end diplomatic relations were established with each new race.
However, humans were not ready for what was about to happen - one by one, human colonies were annihilated. A dark force was on the move, and the threat was closing in on Earth, fast. Battlestation was built to be humanity's last hope.
Superb illustrations will tell the story behind the races in the Battlestation universe, shown to you as you progress in the game. Expect to unravel the mysteries that involve the attacks of different races towards humanity.
Regarding music and sound design, we have the pleasure to work with truly passionate individuals. Individuals, who want to bring you the best experience by creating music that casts you into the universe of Battlestation. A talented composer named Liam Davis has made the music for all Battlestation games and will return to bring new music to Battlestation: Harbinger extended edition. The Kickstarter video music is composed by Ove Melaa.
Battlestation: Harbinger will be available for PC on Windows/Mac/Linux and for mobile via Google Play and Apple App Store. The mobile version will be updated to Extended Edition once development is completed. The full PC release will be distributed as a DRM-free download, and stores on PC include Steam (Game is already greenlit) and possibly GoG.
