2012 Buffalo Small Press Book Fair Saturday, March 24, 2012, Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum 453 Porter Ave, Buffalo, NY
The Buffalo Small Press Book Fair is a regional one day event that brings booksellers, authors, bookmakers, zinesters, small presses, artists, poets, and other cultural workers (and enthusiasts) together in a venue where they can share ideas, showcase their art, and peddle their wares.
This is our sixth year, and we'd love to have your individual support in order to keep the book fair growing. We were lucky enough to receive a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts for marketing and promotion this year, but that still leaves a lot of incidental costs: tables and chairs, equipment rental, logistics!
As always, we've made a fantastic commemorative poster for the occasion...AND all of the money donated this year will be used to offset the cost of tables and chairs, and bring our great friends from Drive By Press to town! Drive By Press has an amazing mobile printing set-up, and they'll be making t-shirts and posters from their handmade woodcuts right on site!
This year is going to be grand - over 110 vendors from all over the Great Lakes Region, as well as Boston, Baltimore, Detroit, NYC, Pittsburgh, and more. In addition to workshops on screenprinting and platen letterpress operation, for the first year in three years, we're bringing back open poetry readings at the fair!
Remember, Rust Belt Books is kind enough to stage a FREE communal dinner for book fair participants after the book fair ends, and we need to match their generosity! Keep in mind, everyone is invited to this dinner - vendors, participants, and especially you, Kickstarter backers!
The fair has been an amazing success every single year, and we can make 2012 the greatest year yet with your help.
Remember this event is FREE and open to the public!
In 2011 we had over 100 vendors and over 2600 participants!
Any individual who donates 75 dollars or more is guaranteed a limited edition silkscreen and letterpressed poster from this year, and silkscreened posters from previous years as well!!! 100 dollars or more gets a limited edition print from Drive By Press!
