What did earbuds wish for this holiday season?
Earbuds were created to be enjoyed, whether for business or pleasure. But it's annoying when tangles, dropped cords, and out-of-control swinging get in your way.
Prioritize your safety and convenience with BudStraps. Our soft straps tightly secure and help manage your earbuds with ease and style.
Whether you're working out, are hard at work, are on the road or on your couch, you can stay in control of your buds with BudStraps.
Our campaign recently got the attention of BikeRumor.com, NBC Universal Sports, Good Housekeeping, The CW TV, Texas Lifestyle, Forces of Geek, Family Travel TV, and more...http://budstraps.com/pages/media-mentions
How's it hangin'?
BudStraps keep your earbuds where you need them – safely around your neck – fastened firmly with a spring-loaded proprietary clip. The neoprene strap can be washed in warm water and dries quickly, and the new Sport strap will be even lighter and more sweat-resistant.
BudStraps can be used with both round and flat cord styles, and the clips allow you to easily re-position them as needed. Like to color coordinate? BudStraps come in a variety of strap colors.
Tip for Avoiding Tangles: When you’re not using your earbuds, you can simply slip the jack into one of the clips to prevent cord snafus and then wrap them up.
Creating the Perfect Clip
We've been in the ideation mode for about 6 months, and what we realized is that there's no tight-fitting clip for earbuds. So we set out to design a slick concept that won't let your cords slip through the clip.
Our prototype was modeled after Croakies, which hold sunglasses around your neck, so we used similar neoprene straps for comfort. We realized that neoprene is great, but athletes need thinner material that breathes a bit more for long workouts, so we crafted the Sport Straps concept and sourced a supplier known for making fabric for high-end cycling gear.
We're offering neoprene straps in black, blue, red, green, pink and camo.
The Evolution of BudStraps (Sport)
The first run of the BudStraps Sport will be black with yellow lettering. If we meet our stretch goal of $30k, we'll give you a choice of at least 3 different color options for your Sport straps. The new strap material is a lightweight, sweat resistant polyester/spandex mesh.
Supporting BudStraps is very Rewarding!
Help us out and get one or more BudStraps depending on the Reward level you choose! And at any Reward level $15 and above, you can choose Neoprene and Sport or, depending on the Reward level, have both, some or all of the BudStraps in the Neoprene or Sport strap.
All Neoprene and Sport BudStraps in all Reward levels will have our new clips!
We're also bundling some cool gifts at the higher tiers from some awesome companies who are really pulling for us.
Your funds, our goals
We'll be using the money raised from this campaign to finance the production of BudStraps (specifically to purchase a new, lighter, sweat resistant strap material and an injection mold for our new clips).
We want to offer BudStraps in more strap colors if we surpass our funding goal...if we hit $30k, we promise at least 3 Sport strap options. Our manufacturer's minimum order quantity is several thousand meters - (and we think that's a lot of feet, but we're not entirely sure!) ; )
The World Needs BudStraps!
Danglers? Bill’s son demonstrates why some people really need BudStraps!
Yanked-out earbuds? BudStraps takes the tension off of your earbuds.
Tangles? Just slip the jack into one of the clips and kiss your tangles good-bye!
Let's talk timing...
Our goal is to start shipping BudStraps in March of 2015.
Bill struggled with his unruly earphone cords for years until he decided to apply his design and building skills to tackle the challenge. He was wearing an early prototype of BudStraps, inspired by the neck strap of his safety goggles, when he was introduced to Jared on a brisk March afternoon of this year. Within weeks, they had settled on a strap design, choosing neoprene as the standard. All along, BudStraps has been using a stock clip to secure the cord. Now, with the help of your funding, BudStraps will have custom clips and the addition of a new strap material produced to make BudStraps even lighter and more useful! We were able to file our Provisional Patent, securing our design and innovation for future development.
We're sourcing an environmentally conscious manufacturer. Our goal is to use recycled plastics in the manufacturing process and keep our packaging eco-friendly with soy inks and biodegradable materials.
BudStraps are Patent Pending!
Risks and challenges
We already have a supplier for the neoprene straps and we've sourced a company to provide the new strap material. The new clips have been designed and we're planning to use a domestic manufacturer. The manufacturing process of any new plastic part is complex, but we have contracted an engineer to work with the factory to make the process as fluid as possible. It's our high hope that BudStraps will be assembled in the US.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
