I love mornings. Up at 9, relaxing with a beautiful cup of aromatic coffee or tea. I usually sit on the porch with a croissant, thinking of life and love…
Yeah, that’s not my typical morning either - let’s start again with that early morning alarm.
Twenty five minutes to get out the door and on the run. Between the clock, packed bags, packed trains, and interruptions, there’s a lot in the way of that perfect morning cup.
INTRODUCING THE ESPRO TRAVEL PRESS
When life takes you on the road, you should be able to lean forward into that next adventure with a fantastic cup of coffee or tea in hand. That first cup of coffee or tea sets the tone for your entire day. For the most creative and productive day possible, it should be mind-blowing! So we created the definitive travel brewer for both coffee and tea, with three filter options.
1. A DOUBLE FILTER FOR GRIT-FREE COFFEE
The Espro travel press uses the same double-filter mesh technology as the table top press, for aromatic, grit-free, and flavorful coffee. They filter coffee twice, with filters 9 and 12 times finer than a common French Press. And once pressed down, they block extraction so the last sip tastes like the first. We also introduce a brand new twist-lock system that makes the separation and assembly of the two micro-filters easier than ever.
2. AN ADDED PAPER FILTER FOR EVEN CLEANER COFFEE
If you want even cleaner coffee, you can add a third paper filter between the two metal filters. This can highlight the fruitier and floral flavors in your coffee.
3. A NEW TEA FILTER JUST FOR TEA LOVERS
Tea is important enough to get its own new filter design. The unique seal at the lower end of the filter sweeps loose leaf tea to the bottom, then folds upward and seals the tea leaves under the filter to stop extraction. You get the full flavors of loose leaf tea.

We’ve all had a mug leak in our bag… Beyond the tragic loss of coffee, that wet report won’t get the same respect. A double lid with silicone seals keeps your drink safe while you navigate the urban-jungle (or jungle-jungle, if life takes you off the beaten path).

We want you thinking about your next great idea, not how to hold your travel press as you wind your way through crowded subways, sidewalks and busses. So, we made your Travel Press easy to grip and hold onto, by gently curving the outer walls.

The ESPRO Travel Press sips like your favorite mug. The shape of the lid is comfortably molded to your lip, and the press rod neatly disappears out of the way for comfortable drinking.
STAYS HOT FOR HOURS
And when the moment finally arrives for that first sublime sip, only to be torn from your hands by ‘someone’ who needs ‘something,’ faint nor fret not! Your drink will still be hot when you are ready. The stainless steel vacuum insulated double walls keep the outside cool and the inside hot (or the other way around for iced tea and cold brew coffee).

We expect the Espro Travel Press to get used a lot. We made the components dishwasher safe, so you can wake up to clean gear…and repeat.

Risks and challenges
Each design has been tested using full-scale prototypes. The product passes our very stringent requirements for making something that has our names on it. We have selected all our manufacturing partners, and have already started producing tooling.
The main risk we have at this point is supplier delivery. We are in weekly contact with our suppliers to ensure that we know what stage they are at.

Vessel: double-walled stainless steel. The outside is painted, initially in 3 colors.

The outer dimensions are as follows: The diameter is just under 70mm at the bottom, and the height is just over 200mm when closed. This fits well within the specs for car, bicycle and backpack bottle holders!

The capacity of the mug to the top edge is about 15.5 oz (450 mL). Most in our industry would simply call this the "size of the travel mug". We don't like doing that, so we publish the amount of beverage that the product will make! So how much is that? About 12 oz (350 mL) of tea, about 10 oz (300 mL) of coffee. If you use your mug without the plunger installed to carry out coffee or tea made with another method you will be able to carry a full 16 oz (about 500 mL) in the mug!

You bet it can! The plunger rod unscrews from the filters for cleaning. Unscrewing also allows the plunger to simply pull out of the top lid. At that point the mug can be used for refilling from your favorite method - a local cafe, an espresso machine, whatever other method you might own in your home or office. All the benefits of the insulation and lids apply in this situation: the double lid will keep your beverage hot for hours and won't leak.

The paper filters will be available through kitchen stores, online coffee equipment retailers and on our website. We anticipate they will be priced very similarly to the filters of other manual brew methods, such as Chemex, Aeropress, Hario and Kalita. We will update this during the project as we lock in a supplier for paper filters!

Adding milk and sugar to your brew is easy. You make the coffee or tea in the brew method of your choosing, and press down the filter. Then add coffee and sugar in the open top. Put the lid on, tighten, and invert the press 2-3 times. Doing this mixes the milk and sugar into your drink! This approach works because the large holes in the opening allow free flow between the area where you sip and the main chamber.

After the campaign closes we will send you a survey asking what two presses you want.
+ If you select two presses for coffee, each will ship with the double micro filter and the paper filters.
+ If instead you choose 1 coffee and one tea, then one will ship with the the double micro filter and the paper filters, and the other will ship with the tea filter.
+ Finally if you choose 2 tea presses, then each will ship with the tea filter installed.Note that if what you really want is two presses with each having BOTH the tea and coffee filter set (i.e., two presses, two coffee filters and two tea filters), then the right thing to do is to purchase two of the "Coffee and Tea Explorer" set. You can do this simply by pledging $98 (plus applicable shipping if international) as your pledge amount for the "Coffee and Tea Explorer set, instead of purchasing the "You Pick Two".
