About this project
Camerino was successfully funded and now is ready for production. After this campaign you can order your Camerino Valet Stand or any Camerino Accessories directly from our on-line shop at brosefogale.co.uk
We would like to thank all the backers, friends and supporters for sharing our campaign and thanks for all the fantastic press that helped the project become even more visible. We would also like to send a special thanks to Sidekick Creatives for their support before and during the campaign.
Camerino campaign was featured in:
Camerino is a flat-packed valet stand that provides a convenient place to hang your belongings, keeping your house tidy and giving a home to your pocket ephemera.
Traditional valet stands were popular in the 1920's, but have since been forgotten. We have revisited this piece of furniture to fit a modern lifestyle.
Camerino is available in fluoro yellow and oak. The mirrors are hand polished in copper or chrome. See below!
Camerino rethinks the traditional valet stand, combining two hanging rails, two shelves for storage and a mirror.
It was first conceived as a response to lifestyles in cities like London, Berlin or New York, where the need to move can be frequent and recurrent, and where living spaces are often too compact for large furniture.
The name 'Camerino' comes from the Italian and Spanish word for an actor's dressing room.
Check out the full product video below!
Camerino helps to organise your daily possessions and can be used in any room or hallway in your home. The simple but iconic design sits happily in all different interiors. No complicated fixing is required and once assembled it just leans against the wall. Then if you need to move, it's easy to move with you.
Working on the design for Camerino, three things were really key for the product:
1. A practical piece of furniture designed to suit modern lifestyles
2. Made with traditional techniques from premium materials
3. An accessible price, made possible with e-commerce and crowdfunding
Flat-packed and lightweight, Camerino arrives in the post and is quick and easy to assemble. Only one Allen key is required and we supply it :-)
Produced in Northern Europe from great quality, natural materials: oak, copper and stainless steel. Designed to be assembled and disassembled and built for longevity.
The price for Camerino pays for the material and the manufacturing and nothing else in the middle, making it still affordable. Designed by us, made for you.
Camerino is for anyone using their chair as a coat hanger, forever searching for their keys or wallet, always moving home or city, or with limited space and in need of some organisation.
The traditional process of designing, developing, producing, distributing, marketing and selling a product involves a long chain of people and companies across the world.
This system drastically inflates the retail price, so our aim is to use digital medias to shorten the chain and bring the designer closer to the products owner, you. This way the price really reflects the quality of the product, rather than the costs of everyone else in between.
So far furniture designers have been slow to embrace the possibilities of Kickstarter. But we believe there is huge potential to reconsider this traditional process for everyone's benefit.
After the campaign, we aim to continue to produce Camerino to sell online.
Quite simply this means great quality, well-designed products at a smaller price. Better for us the designers and you the users.
Doing what we love, the way we want to, for the right people.
As well as the valet stand, we are also offering a wide range of other rewards: from wall hooks, to hand mirrors, all designed from pieces of Camerino.
Our friend James Graham has also kindly designed some beautiful posters and postcards for us, showing Camerino being used by some iconic designers - can you recognise them?
We have been developing Camerino for the past 6 months. As part of this process, we have produced several prototypes by hand and with the factory that will eventually produce them. So we've built an excellent working relationship with the manufacturer, culminating in exhibiting the prototypes at the Salone Del Mobile in Milan last April.
Apart from being excellent craftspeople, the factory can also produce the entire product down to the packaging, in house. This means as well as having control over the quality, we also have total clarity on the price of every part. This gives us confidence in the pricing and budget, so no unforeseen surprises. We have also dedicated the last few months looking in detail at these numbers, so that we can ask as little as possible without any risk.
In order to start production we need to fund the minimum order quantity from our manufacturer. Our first batch of 50, is as small as possible, but this is still expensive.
All the funds will go towards:
• materials (oak, copper and chrome mirror, fittings)
• manufacture (wood turning, metal plating, hand polishing, paint finish)
• shipping from the factory to us, then to you.
If successful, we will place the purchase order by the end of September. Then review the production prototypes and start production by mid-October. So we should be delivering your rewards between November and December!
Kickstarter is just our first step. If this campaign is funded, we hope to prove that crowdfunding is a truly viable option for furniture design, and intend to develop our future products based on this model.
We hope this is just the first of many.
Brose~Fogale is a new design studio, based in London, started by us, Joscha and Matteo. The impetus to start our own venture is the culmination between our experience, location and crowdfunding.
Our collective background is in Industrial Design, and have spent the past 6 years working internationally in design studios, including Tom Dixon and BarberOsgerby.
studio covers the fields of interior design, product design, bespoke
furniture and installations; all led by a design approach that considers
honest and premium materials, functionality and longevity of the
product. The result is a combination of everyday objects reinterpreted
with a strong iconic character.
As a new studio we hope to approach the industry in a different way which is why we came to crowdfunding.
Thank you so much for looking at our page, please spread the word to your family and friends, or anyone in need of a little organization in their lives.

Risks and challenges
We are both experienced industrial designers and have worked over 6 years for many different design studios in London. Here our work has covered the full spectrum from concept design to production, including product development and logistics. We know what it takes to design a product from scratch and see it to production.
This is our first Kickstarter campaign, so we are novices :-) But, we are being supported by our friends at Sidekick Creatives, a studio from London specialising in assisting artists and designers to launch their campaigns on crowdfunding platforms. They have helped us to design the campaign from scratch, to come up with a strategy, to look in detail at the budget so that there won't be any unforeseen surprises for anyone.
Our budget is calculated based on the quotes we received from our factory. They know that we will be placing an order in September, if successful.
Camerino is ready, the factory is ready, we are ready; if we are successful production will start as soon as we receive the funds from Kickstarter. :)
Please be aware finishes and colours may vary very slightly in production versions.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Don't worry, as soon as the campaign finishes we will send out a survey to all of you to ask you which one you want. :-)
The Camerino dimensions are:
180cm high, 80cm wide, and 35cm depth (when leaning against your wall). The mirror is of 28cm diameter and you can rotate it to adjust to your height!.
We thought of that. The Camerino has small anti-slip rubber grommets on both ends of the base so it will stay in place in your kitchen floor, living room, or doorway.
The package size for the Camerino Valet Stand is 120cm x 35cm x 11cm and it weights circa 7.5kg!
This is very light considering the high quality wood and metal Camerino is made of :)

I'm a retailer or interior architect and would like to stock Camerino products or use them for one of my projects.
That's fantastic! After the campaign we aim to produce some stock and build up a retail network and make it available for anyone. Please send us a message or email at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know.
Kickstarter is all-or-nothing funding, so if the project you’re backing is successfully funded, your card will be charged only when the project reaches its funding deadline.
If the project does not reach its funding goal, your card is never charged and we wont get the necessary funds to produce our first batch..
The only thing you are likely to see from your bank is a temporary authorization of funds. But you will not be charged until the project you backed has ended successfully!
