This is about friendship. We have all been in the music scene for a long time. Sometimes working in the margins, all of us on big stages at different times in our careers. Now that we are all a little more grey and off of the road, we came together to make music we love for people who love music.
We started recording our album last year. Due to the generous support of our fans who put unreasonable amounts of money in our tip jar at gigs and came to our fundraising garage sale last summer, we have been able to record all of the tracks. Now it's time to mix, master, lay out the graphics and produce the CD. We are so close but we are out of funds. We could use some help to finish.
Who is Brooks Hill? My name is Cindy Lou Banks and I fronted an alt-country band that won a bunch of awards - back when people hit stones together to make fire. I write most of our songs and I can still sing, probably even better now that I have more miles on me.
Brad Price is a monster guitar player who can make an acoustic guitar burst into flames. He can also play slide with anything, we know this because we've handed him a shot glass at rehearsal and watched him tear it up.
Donny Wright is a virtuoso bass player, guitar player and wonderful singer. He can harmonize to anything and he's funnier than we are. He is our rehearsal captain and arranger and his favorite saying is "Remember it's never too late to buy the bass player a whiskey".
Our friend Will Fendon is new to the band but you will meet him when you come to see us. He's a wonderful percussionst and all around great person.
Tell me more about the rewards. Oh this is so fun, PRIZES! Some friends of ours helped us get our hands on some super-soft, great fitting, high-quality shirts and a cool hat. We also have some stickers and a stainless shotglass.
Very special, one-of-a-kind item! My neighbor, Tracy is making a barn quilt wall hanging to help us raise money. She designed and is hand-crafting just for this fundraiser. It will be approx. 30"X30". We can't believe she did this for us. Here are what it looks like so far below. We are currently arguing over which animals represent us in the band.
Where did the name Brooks Hill come from? I live in an amazing neighborhood. The kind of place where soup gets dropped off at your door, where people spend the night if you are injured, where neighbors show up inside of 10 minutes to help you if you are in trouble. The hill that I live on was settled by the Brooks family and it's the nickname for this place. The pictures that you see of the fields and barns in our ads and posters are all from around here. The album cover came from a night when I was watching the sun go down across the street. I ran outside with my iPhone and got my socks soaked trying to capture the mist.
Where Did you Record? Joining us on this recording was our producer, Jim Walker from Studio515. He helped us distill our vision down to service the songs and turned tracks and tracks of guitars into a story. We could not have done this without his encouragment, amazing ears, great taste and endless patience. He also helped with background vocals, percussion, guitar, organ and all kinds of other things he did at night when we weren't there.
Also appearing on the album are: Marty Henninger on drums, master banjo player Barry Crannell, the astonishing James Mason on fiddle and NW legend, Harley James, on steel guitar. Laurent Nickel & Albert Reda also contributed their great talents.

Risks and challenges
We believe that we will be able to release the album in November. All of our songs are already recorded. Of course, there is always a risk of some kind of unforseen issue but we can't think of anything obvious that would delay the release. There is still a lot of work to do in the mix process, artwork, mastering and production so there is a small risk of delay in one of those steps. For international shipping, please allow a little more time for customs forms and shipping time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
