Hi everybody.
Could you pease give an update on the current status. According to your las update you expected to have pre-production samples by end of april.
Do you still meet the timeline of delivering between June and September or do I have to wait to the cycling season next yary?
Kind regards
Thomas
Last news was talking about June-September for delivery, this is a bad news if I think, this will be delivered at the end of the year ... so we definitely lost a year of enjoying biking using this new headset. Season is short in Québec (Canada), and I start to see similar products already on the market !
Hello @everyone, we are shooting for delivery between June and September of this year. For additional information please check out our latest update. @Juergen, we understand your concern. Please know we are working hard on delivering a helmet that everyone will love and any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks again for your support!
Any ETA when to start shipping? here in Montreal dying to hop on Bike again, sunshine is getting here , only HELMET missing ;) . keep up the good work.
Hi everyone, We understand that the delay may cause to some of you to miss a cycling season with the new Classon. We are working extra hard to make up for lost time. Unfortunately, some things are beyond our control. We will update you in a few weeks as soon as we have a more clear development schedule. Please bear with us and know that we are on it.
Also, for those with questions regarding the processing fees. They are 8% (5% Kickstarter, 3% payment processing)
Like Yves, I think the delay is unfortunate. The missing a season-argument goes for me too. Although I think the Classon has benefits in all seasons, at least for me in the Netherlands (I would probably use the navigation and camera functions more in the summer season but the blind spot detection and brake light functions would play more in the winter season).
All in all: I am disappointed with the months missed, but I will gladly wait for an even better product.
Delays are unfortunately a part of projects, and often, never respected... I did a list of delays with different Kickstarter projects, this is really an issue. With "Classon", this could be a big issue, because a few months of delay will also mean a lost season... I live in Canada, and season for the bike (or tandem in our case) is pretty short, that would also mean 1 year of delay for us, probably. And who knows what will happen in a year?
Thank you for your comments and also for answering the survey. We understand some of your concerns regarding cutting back on features and I want to reassure you that is not the case. Your feedback helps us with planning, designing and what other directions we'd like to take with this product in the future.
RE the survey - Ummmm.... hope the functionality isn't about to be paired back. All of the aspects of the helmet are important and it was described as having it all (not stretch objectives). We expect it all. Don't let us down.
I completed your mini-survey and based on the questions I am concerned that you are planning to cut back on key features of the helmet, features on which I based my decision to back the project. Is this the case?
@Brooklyness: I just filled out your mini-survey. However I think it is a bit too early for a good answer. I have not experienced these functions yet and still have questions that won't be answered until I have actually used the helmet. For instance: I rated the Blind spot detection as most important. But if in practice it only picks up larger cars or only higher differences in speed or ... then it might easily turn out the least important function. Other example: I think I have sufficient other/good navigation tools. But if the Classon's navigation proves a reliable, flexible and user friendly tool then it just might turn out to be one of the most used features.
In other words: be careful with interpreting the results of this survey.
Hi Humberto, yes there is a feature that call emergency number but is linked to your phone. This feature will not be available at the time of shipping, it will be added latter on on a software update.
@Torben: we are still on track to start shipping in April/May of 2017. Please feel free to reach me at traci@brooklyness.com with any questions. Cheers!!
Woaww What an updates? Voice control? Microphone for freehands?? I am really excited to received more and more news!! For some reason, I did not receive alerts about those comments. GO CLASSON TEAM GO!!! Any news about camera recording? If I do not mistake, it will be incorporated in the helmet ¿right?
I just wanted to tell the Classon team... KUDOS, you guys are doing great and we appreciate it a bunch. Voice update at a later time would be freakin' amazing!
Hi Traci,
Thanks! I understand your concerns. Please keep up the momentum and hope to see the voice-activation will be available when you ship the helmets. All the best!
@ Rene: It is actually a lot of work, we are not only working on the software but also on hardware and all other pieces that make the biz work. We are growing the team but even then we dont want to over promise. As an alternative we are looking into opening up the platform to developers so they can create new applications for the helmets.
@ Traci
Thanks for getting back to me! Regarding the software development of the voice activation for turn signals, do you think it might be too conservative in the estimation the completion timeline as you still have more than half a year to deliver the helmets to us (backers)?
@ John Skov:
We've incorporated the hardware for voice activated turn signals and will release that at a later date. However, having a button on the handle bar isn't something we are going to incorporate. We wanted to simplify the process and don't feel that's the direction we want to go. We are working on other options that could be released at a later date as well.
Hope that answers your question! Also, feel free to email me at traci@brooklyness.com as well.
I apologize for not getting back to you earlier. We were in the middle of a move.
To answer your questions, yes, we have received a lot of feedback regarding voice activation and have designed the hardware to accommodate it. The software is in development but won't be released when the helmets ship. It will be released as an update at a later date.
Regarding Bluetooth, there will be a speaker integrated within the helmet but there will not be in ear speakers.
Also, please feel free to email me at any time directly at traci@brooklyness.com with any questions you may have.
The creator used to response quick before the campaign was closed, but now already 2 weeks, still yet to hear a reply from the creator. ...Disappointed!
I have been thinking about the turn lights. I believe they are activated by the arm motion, right? And it shuts of when you retract your arm, right? Is there any other way to activate it?
Would it be possible to also have a button activation on the handlebars? I would prefer this as a backup and I would be able to turn on the turning signal well before making the actual turn and well before I would normally put out my arm.
Hi @Creator,
Any latest progress update for our backers? Also, it mentioned before about implementation of voice activation for turn lights, how it is going so far? +1 to integrate Bluetooth speaker with the helmet as well.
Hi @Ming Thanks for reaching out. Shipping was not included in your initial pledge. We noted that we would be reaching out at a later date regarding shipping and included estimated shipping charges in the body of the campaign. Please feel free to reach me at traci@brooklyness.com with any other questions you may have.
@Gavin, Thanks for pointing me to your comments on the vertical angle issue. Could you also reply on my main issue: my interpretation of the functionality with and without subscription.
Have you guys thought about integrated bluetooth speakers? Or, which ones on the market today would work best with this helmet? (This is not intended to spark a debate on whether one should listen to music while biking)
I too am still a bit confused on the Classon Club advantages (or better: the disadvantages I'm going to run into without membership). With regard to the video access: as I understand it the Classon wil have internal memory to keep about the last 4 hours of recording. These recordings will always be available for local extraction (in case of retrieving an incident). The video access functionality is for uploading and keeping recordings in the cloud (how long will it stay there? Who else can reach/use them?) Because of reaching the stretched goal this function is no longer part of the Club-subscription so it's always available, even without membership (again: how long are recordings saved? who else can reach them?)
Please: confirm or correct my interpretation
Second issue: I am a bit concerned on the vertical angle of the two camera's. Some bikers ride somewhat facedown, others straight up. What will be the range to take full use of the helmets functionality? When will the (front or back) camera record nothing but sky or just a few meters of asphalt and will the helmet no longer see cars coming in the back?
Or will the camera angle adjust based on the helmet's sensors?
Thanks for your reply! & glad to hear you guys are on track, so video access for everyone is included after the 6 months free "Classon Club" Subscription?
Hi @Tarik, thanks for reaching out. We actually offered video access as a stretch goal and unlocked that at $125k. That is now included with the helmet without the subscription. Right now we are on track and will be posting updates periodically with our progress. In the meantime, if you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me at traci@brooklyness.com Cheers!
