Broken Reality is a single player first person adventure game set on a 3D reimagining of the World Wide Web. In it you will explore a network of interconnected levels, each representing a type of website (blogs, chat rooms, social media…etc.) with different gameplay mechanics that go along with them. You will be able to surf back and forth between levels, unlocking new areas within them through the use of flavorful tools.
It handles its progression system in an open-ended way where players are able to explore the interconnected world since the beginning, and may even find endings to the game early on although some endings will require more elaborate conditions to be met.

The game is all about its atmosphere. Mostly inspired by internet subcultures, the game is driven by a musical and visual style reminiscent of late 80s and early 90s computer graphics.
As music lovers, the music that goes along with the experience is very important to us. We are thrilled to have amazing artists collaborating from all over the World with many different genres and styles. Here are a few examples of the artists that are going to make the game’s atmosphere feel fresh.

Broken Reality began as an idea our artist, Galamot Shaku, had two years ago. He wanted to make a game about a Hikikomori who works as a deliverer of digital goods on a virtual reality. For this, he invited Sebastian Covacevich to do design. As we worked on the initial idea, we realized realized it could allow for a larger game. We had a bunch of concepts for different levels and they way they looked, so we kept working on it. This was, of course, while juggling work and school, which is why production was very slow for the first year and a half. However, starting february 2016, we began working full-time and produced over 5 levels, each with their own feeling and designed core mechanics. Working together as a Designer and Artist, we laid out the plan of what the game is going to be and worked on being able to show the core concept.
Not long before we launched our Kickstarter, Rod Saco, our now programmer, contacted us saying he believes firmly in what we're trying to build and joined us. We are sure he can implement the mechanics we weren't able to put on our trailer, such as upgrades, platforming, "hookshot"-like weapons, inventories and much more.
Risks and challenges
Based on average death statistics, one of the team members might die during the development of the game. However, this is a passion project: we've been working on it for about two years and even if one of the members of the team died, we wouldn't let it disappear in the infinity of the Internet.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
