Two and a half years ago, we set out to build the "Headspace for your body" – software that would help you sit, stand, feel, and look better. Today, we are unveiling Brightday, an easy to use application to teach and encourage you to have better posture while you work.

Other posture products on the market include special desks or furniture, straps for your shoulders, or gadgets you stick on your body.
Brightday is software. Brightday uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) to track your movement at your desk while the app runs in the background.
We know that changing behavior isn’t easy. That is why Brightday is designed to be quick and fun to use.

Behavioral science explains that incremental changes (little steps taken on a regular basis) lead to lasting results.

Once you’ve downloaded the software, choose a time for your daily training session. Each session focuses on one aspect of your posture with a quick instructional video.

To create the simplest posture improvement solution on the market, we chose to use the hardware you already own: the webcam in your computer. In this way, we transform the computer from a device that can cause pain and discomfort into a device that can improve your health and wellness. Just like that.
Brightday also works with external webcams and supports several desktop configurations as shown below.

If you prefer to keep your camera covered, here’s one you can slide open during your brightday sessions. And if you don’t have a webcam, the Wirecutter recommends this one for $32.

Brightday seamlessly integrates into your busy day. It interacts with you only when needed, uses minimal screen space, and can be completely minimized.

There is a significant body of research showing that better sitting and standing postures have broad health and wellness benefits.

We spent two years consulting with ergonomists, physical therapists, doctors, chiropractors and posture gurus. In this quest of knowledge, we found the perfect expert.

Jean Couch, the author of The Runner’s Yoga Book which has sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide, works with us on all posture techniques including the instructional videos you will find inside of Brightday. Jean has travelled around the world to find the best ways to sit and stand by analyzing the posture and movements of people in who have no back pain into old age.

With your help, we can offer features beyond sitting and prepare you for daily success. For example, we will add how to stand in balance, how to set up your desk, monitor, keyboard and chair, and how to be more comfortable anywhere — like in a cafe or even on the couch.
Plus, we need your input to make Brightday even better.
Thank you so much for your support!

Windows or Mac computer - From 2012 and newer
Webcam - Built-in or external webcam. And if you don’t have a webcam, the Wirecutter recommends this one for $32.

Mac - Brightday has already achieved the highest level of Apple application security that is currently available. It is a notarized, Sandbox Application that is authorized for distribution outside of the Mac App Store.
Windows - Brightday has the highest form of security on the Windows platform by using a Code Signing Certificate (digital) and an Extended Validation Code Signing Certificate (physical).
Data security - Brightday transmits data using secure protocols such as SSL and HTTPS. Data is stored using encryption.

The way that Brightday has been built centers around protecting user privacy. The very reason we chose to make Brightday a desktop application was so that the real-time processing engine could be on the user’s computer and not in the cloud. No image or video is ever saved or recorded because the application processes the webcam information in real-time. In fact, Brightday works even when there’s no Internet connection.
That said, Brightday collects basic information in order to understand common usage patterns. We use this data to improve Brightday and provide tech support when needed.

Risks and challenges
Brightday is at the beta stage of development and over 200 users have already downloaded, tested and used it for days, weeks and even months. Many thanks go out to our tireless testers.
Though Brightday is not yet finished, the core aspects of Brightday are working well. For example, Brightday can already determine when users have deviated from their intended posture and can correctly guide them back to the good posture that they initially set.
There are no risks in getting you the product since we will deliver the rewards to you via instant download.
The remaining pieces that we are looking to complete are 1) sit/stand and ergonomics-focused training videos 2) the ability to help users accomplish good posture while using sit-stand desks, and 3) other supplemental features.
With your support and our experience, we are very confident that we will deliver the software to our backers on time.
