it is February 2017!!! I still have not received: nor my rewards, nor any messages, nor emails, nor responses to phone calls...
I am very upset, I haven't see the movie yet (I have no Netflix). Not even received the possibility of a streaming or a digital downloading.
I am very appalled at the way many backers have been treated.
I donated 1.000,00 dollars (nearly my salary) because I was fond of this project. After 02/22/2014 I haven't received so far any message or communication from Linda Bloodworth Thomason or Shane Bitney Crone or anyone from the production team.
Such a misbehavior and lack of respect have no excuses or justifications.

I am starting a lawsuit against the Bridegroom producers for not delivering on their Kickstarter pledge and promises. All the while exploiting the emotional documentary's narrative to the LGBT population. A group of notable investors are joining me my effort. We would gladly welcome you participation and support. The entertainment law attorney is providing his services at no cost to us. You will be reimbursed fully for this blatantly misleading fraud from the producers having pocketed your generous Kickstarter contributions. The Los Angeles Times and Wired Magazine are in the process of crafting articles on the Bridegroom Kickstarter scam.

    4. on February 6

Bridegroom is at present a study of the all time and ultimate Kickstater scam. The producers clearly had access to funding on their own. So few of us at the high level funding ever for more than a DVD in the mail 18 months after the documentary's release. The promises by the producers were not upheld. Let's join effort in a lawsuit for false representation, extortion and failing to deliver on promise.

6 days after my last posting, a DVD, T-shirt and 2 posters arrived. Posted on same day as my comment. VERY happy to have the film, which I will show to everyone I know. Don't know who shipped it, but I'm still willing to send postage to help. Thank you.

Another year goes by and still no contact. You said it was the high cost of postage. I said I would pay for my own postage. Still no response. At this point I really don't care about the 100 dollars, I'd just like to see the film.

    8. Ardescar Xenowolf on October 30

I wonder how many ppl here are willing to pay some $ to get it ...

I wanted to support this film because it was an important story to tell, however, it's unacceptable and disappointing that you have not bothered to honour the promised perks for people who have taken the time to pledge and support you or offer any kind of contact to explain the delay.

    13. Maurizio Cardinale on April 15, 2016

It's been almost 4 years I've donated 100 bucks. I should receive all rewards till the blu-ray disc. I never received anything. I live in Brazil.

    14. Lee on February 23, 2016

3yrs on and I still have not received anything. I too, would like my $50 refunded please.

    15. Allister Hardiman on January 8, 2016

I opted out of my rewards post-funding (but still saw the film) so I hope I am taken off your 'to do' list. I wanted to support the film so the rewards are not important. In fact, if you would like a donation to help with the unexpected postage costs, contact me with paypal details and I'll help out: that might cover postage for two or three backers.

its December 11th and I still have not received my reward. Over 3 years now.
I tried to call producer Harry Thomason now and that number is not available any more.
I am very upset I have not seen the movie either. At least a streaming connection or possibility to download it. So no shirt, no poster, no dvd, and no film.
I am very disappointed the way backers have been treated.
I want to be contacted as soon as possible to let me know where the reward is.
      Wait for your news.

December 2015 now. I don't know what went wrong but you have very much disappointed many people. If you aren't going to deliver be honest and just say so.

    21. Ardescar Xenowolf on September 15, 2015

*wonders* iam still waiting ... till now i havent seen the movie ... cus i wanted to wait till i get the DVD. And i really would like to know how many havent got their reward. So i created a Poll - would you be so kind and choose there if you have got a DVD or not???
With this project i created my kickstarter account.

    22. Gabrielle Moseley on September 15, 2015

As posted under Update #30. I was shocked anew to see the volume of comments here, too: What I posted there: " didn't ever receive my rewards, either. It seems from the volume of disgruntled responses that I am not alone. Please honor your word. If you intended to make the film based on donations rather than based on pledges with promises of something provided in return, then you should have conducted your Kickstarter campaign with that being explicit and called for DONATIONS. I probably would have still donated something; but as it stands now, while it's true the film was made, I've yet to see it myself and my sense of pride and participation as a backer palls because you haven't honored your part of the deal for me and, it seems, a great many others worldwide."

    23. Brant Dixon on September 4, 2015

Just been told i can watch it on Netflix ! yeah no thanks

    24. Lee on August 24, 2015

Yep-No rewards received for me either after donating $50. It's been years now. Can we get our money returned as they haven't kept to their word? I'm sure the movie has made money!!

    25. Andrew Innes on August 3, 2015

Like so many other people, I helped to fund this project and haven't received anything. I was originally very moved by the story, but now saddened by the complete lack of followup or contact from the Producers to my enquiries. It'd certainly deter me from funding another Kickstarter project. It makes me think I've been taken for a fool.

    26. Sam on July 31, 2015

Have all the rewards been sent out? I haven't received anything yet. Maybe it'll come before the project hits a '3-year late' status...

    27. Bas Förster on July 28, 2015

I also reported the project. There is no way of contacting you, only apologies for delays, and with so many people nit having received their rewards, this just seems like a scam. It's almost a miracle that there is a movie in the end. Very disappointed here.

    28. Solveig Felton on July 9, 2015

I have now used the "Report this project to Kickstarter" button at the bottom of the 'Campaign' page and selected the post-funding option. Don't know if it will make any difference, but I am very disappointed by the complete lack of acknowledgement of my attempts to contact the people behind the project to report the non-delivery of my rewards.

    29. Leo Sonneveldt on June 20, 2015

I know backing shouldn't be for the reward, but promising something and then not keeping that promise...makes me a bit sad...

    30. Mark Beattie on June 17, 2015

Nothing for me either - really disappointed with all this.

    31. Anna Jones on May 6, 2015

Still haven't received anything. All my information is the same. I have tried leaving comments here, direct messages, emails, and phoning, all with no reply.

This is the first Kickstarter I ever backed, and going through this experience 3+ years later, it makes me never want to back any good cause ever again. It's a shame.

Tara Norman on April 24, 2015

This is a total scam. You've taken all our money and not given us what we've paid for. Your company's actions seem very fraudulent. You are to provide ALL of us with an update as to where our goods are or kickstarter will be notified about this and they are allowed to take legal action. 3 years since I gave you my money, I've not moved, and I've received nothing but BS updates twice a year apologizing for delays. It's on Netflix so please stop BS'ing us with excuses and give us the rewards or return all of our money. I expect an update in short order.

This documentary has now become a classic!

    50. David Johnson on March 24, 2015

I contributed at the $100 level. So, I should have physically received:

      - "Beautiful Boy" MP3 (received)
      - "Bridegroom" DVD (received)
      - "Bridegroom" T-shirt (NOT received)
      - "Bridegroom" Blu-ray (NOT received)

As noted above, I have the MP3 and the DVD, but no t-shirt, and no blu-ray. (Frankly, I would have preferred to just get the blu-ray instead of the DVD. What am I going to do with two copies of the movie?) It's been almost three years since this campaign was funded, and almost half a year since we last got any updates about this. What gives? I get that the bottom line is the producers bit off more than they can chew when they said they could get all these rewards out within a few months. Poor planning on their part, but there's nothing to be done about that now. What frustrates me is this complete silence for months at a time, and then a quick blurb saying, "Still working on it, thanks for your patience. Sunshine and rainbows, lolzors!" that really tells us nothing. What I would like to see is a monthly email with the numbers showing their progress in sending out these rewards. If they'd just do that, you might still have some grumblers because it's taking so long, but overall they'd probably have a lot less complaints because we backers would be able to see some actual progress on this, and have some expectation of when we'd be receiving our rewards.

I like to support local businesses, but I don't just go into these places to toss money at the owner and leave. If I or other customers don't get any benefit in return, why bother supporting them? The same principal applies here. My sense of altruism is appeased because I contributed to something I believed in, and it's succeeded. However, the producers introduced a business side of this when they guaranteed goods in exchange for money. Given the circumstances behind why this film needed to be made, business seems to be a dirty subject to bring into it. Nevertheless, it’s there, and at the end of the day, we all gave money with the guarantee of something in return, and that guarantee has not been fulfilled for what appears to be a large majority of us, judging by the comments thread. Campaigns like Bridegroom, where the creators drop the ball but don’t want to take responsibility, make people leery of funding sites like Kickstarter or IndieGoGo. By not fulfilling their promise, they are hurting the funding potential for every other funding campaign out there.
