We are excited to have renowned artist Dave Dorman involved with our project. When successfully funded, Dave will be putting together our cover art, which will also be used for the poster we will be printing for our backers. Read the full update here.
What is Henchmen? Henchmen is a comic book about the other guys.
Gary is struggling to get by. Too old to learn a new trade, too young to retire. Then he finds a mysterious classified ad. When he applies in person, he finds a subversive world of henchmen for hire. Readers will see the familiar superhero landscape from the unique perspective of those who rarely get a voice but are always present… the Henchmen. While the superhero is battling the super-villain the henchmen are the ones loading the loot into the van. They all have stories, they all have fears. Gary is a good man driven to do terrible things.

Meet Gary, our "Hero."
Why Kickstarter? We plan to use the funds raised in the campaign to print a limited first edition (roughly 1000 copies). The first edition will have a full color cover with black-and-white content inside. The first issue is a 32 page issue - not a skinny book! In addition we will be printing up stickers, posters, and using a small amount of the funds to advertise and promote the book.
Who are we? Jamison Raymond is the writer and creator of “Henchmen.” He is a stand-up comic, satirist and life-long comic book fan. He has written short stories and essays for years, and now wants to combine his talent for witticisms and character driven fiction into a truly unique project of passion. Brian Wyrick has known Jamison since high school, and has been a life long science fiction and comic fan. His marketing, web, and business talents have helped launch the Henchmen project. Ryan Howe runs Scribblinz Studios and is handling all art duties on the book, bringing Gary's new world to life.
About Dave Dorman
Eisner, Inkpot and Bram Stoker Award-winning illustrator, writer and creator Dave Dorman was voted the #1 Star Wars Artist of All Time by fans of the property worldwide, and his art book Star Wars: The Art of Dave Dorman was an international best seller. His landmark, critically acclaimed graphic novel, Aliens: Tribes, won him an Eisner and Bram Stoker Award as well as changing the way the publishing ad entertainment industries viewed the medium. Dorman's own critically acclaimed Intellectual Property, The Wasted Lands--the Sergio Leone-meets-motorcycle western epic tale of good vs. evil in a dystopian society recovering from "the Iron Wars"--continued to raise the bar in the graphic novel publishing arena and set a new standard. Another Dorman I.P., Dead Heat, is the Bram Stoker Award-winning horror anthology of his tales of the protagonist motorcycle zombie known as "Hitch." Dorman's autobiography, Rolling Thunder: The Art of Dave Dorman (IDW Publishing/Desperado Publishing) encompasses an estimated one-third of his illustrious art career, which includes licensed works of such classic properties as G.I. Joe, Indiana Jones, Predator, Robotech, Batman, Captain America, Spiderman, Judge Dredd, Transformers, Green Lantern, Green Hornet, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, World of Warcraft and many more. Corporate clients include 20th Century Fox, Rhythm & Hues, Hasbro, Wizards of the Coast, Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, IDW, Upper Deck, Topps, FASA Corp., and many more. Dorman is a sought-after instructor who has taught at American Academy of Art, Savannah College of Art & Design, Reverie (Massive Black/ConceptArt.org), Columbia College and Hollywood's The Gnomon School. His video art tutorials are available at The Gnomon Workshop.
When will Henchmen be available? The script and concept art are finished. So, all that is left is the artwork for the book itself. The funds from the Kickstarter campaign will be used to to get the finished product to the printer and distributor as soon as possible. We anticipate shipping the finished book to backers by May 2013.

Risks and challenges
Why Kickstarter? It can be a difficult process to self-publish and even harder to submit to an established publisher. But Kickstarter will give us a chance to publish a first edition run of “Henchmen” and get the book out there to get some momentum.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
