We did it! We reached the first goal in 6 days!
Lets see if we can make it to a new goal of $2200!
Thank you all so much for helping to make this happen by your pledges and/or passing on the word of this project.
I am still raising funds to reach my ideal goal of $2200 (and if we can get to $2700, I can pay the generous Graphic Designer $500). Thank you so much and blessings, see about the DVD project in my original post below:
"Sharing the Ancient Art of Storytelling as a Way to Educate, Entertain and Offer Healing to Individuals, Communities and the Living World."
On March 12, 2011, at the Elastic Arts Foundation in Chicago IL., I had the opportunity to offer a well received, full length Storytelling Performance entitled “Eating Baba Yaga: Myths and Stories of Surviving the Extraordinary Life” This performance was professionally videotaped and since that time I have worked closely with the videographer/editor to successfully turn this recording into a professional quality DVD. (Thank you Carlton Brown of TotalVision Media - www.totalvisionvideo.com)
About the DVD:
“Eating Baba Yaga: An Evening With Brian Rohr”
This show consists of two stories - 16 minutes and 38 minutes respectively - and teachings about these stories and how they relate to our lives.
The back cover of the DVD says:
“In his show, Eating Baba Yaga, Brian invites the listener to that wild, gentle and fierce place that is known when confronting our Wyrd - our own unique and personal life path - and see how, through compassion, cunning and grace, we can engage those parts of our lives that may seem to want to destroy us, but in fact want us to become the adults we were always meant to be.”
Where I am at now:
The actual DVD is now in the finishing stages:
· The 71 minute long video is completely edited
· The DVD is authored with a menu page and chapters
· There is a special features section of the DVD.
· The Artwork and Design for the cover and disk is finished with very high quality original artwork by a professional graphic designer
I will soon have the chance to view the finished product (it is being shipped to me at the moment) and once it is approved, will be ready for reproduction.
What I need to finish:
With the DVD in its final stages, the project is just about done. What is now needed is money for reproduction of 1000 DVD’s and some extra expenses. Reproduction is a high quality way of copying the DVD for retail sale. Once this is ordered, I will have a complete, professional retail product (with shrink-wrap and all) that can be sold in stores, online and in person at performances.
The cost is actually higher than the $1100 I have put as my goal, but the way Kickstarter works is if I do not reach my goal, I do not get any funding, so I have put a lower goal as this amount will still help. My true cost for reproduction and promotional materials, shipping costs, Kickstarter fees, etc. is close to $2200. More is helpful, but whatever we raise will definitely support the funding of this project! (If we can collectively raise $2700, then $500 of that will go towards the generous graphic designer.)
DVD Artwork and design:
The artwork and design was created by professional artist and graphic designer, Andy Rohr (yes, my brother). His deep creativity and expertise will allow this DVD to have the visual quality that will draw people’s attention to the product itself. You can see a low res version of the cover here: http://www.brianrohr.com/EatingBabaYaga/dvd2.html

Thank you so much everyone for your sweet support!!!!!!!!!
