The primary goal of this project is to fund hardcover editions of new books by three indie writers including myself, Brian Rathbone. It took years and help from a lot of kind and generous people for me to build an audience for the World of Godsland fantasy series. I am grateful, and I want to give back. A couple years ago, I got serious about it. Morgen Rich and Jack McCarthy are people I wanted to see succeed as writers. All the while, readers were asking when the next Godsland book was coming out. Collaborating with Jack and Morgen was a perfect way to expand the Godsland universe more quickly than I could on my own, and it would introduce Jack and Morgen to my audience. Two collaborative novels have been completed as a result.
Ascension by Morgen Rich and Brian Rathbone is a stand-alone prequel to the Dawning of Power trilogy. Having reached the age of decision, Gwendolin Ahlgren finds she has no viable choices, or at least none her family will agree to let her pursue. Life and love aren't always what one expects, and neither is destiny.
Onin by Jack McCarthy and Brian Rathbone tells the tale of Onin, a character I always felt deserved more time. When the young man distinguishes himself in battle, he is invited to study at the prestigious Scaleback Academy. There, his true destiny unfolds. Onin is book one in the Protector trilogy.
Meanwhile, I was hard at work on Dragon Airways, which is a stand alone novel that just happens to be a distant prequel to the Dawning of Power trilogy. It's a story about what happens when a boy with special needs meets an aging dragon. I'm making Dragon Airways a part of this project in order to offer what I hope are irresistible rewards.
Supporters will get to read the ebooks before they go on sale at major retailers.

These hand-made glass art marbles are featured in the Godsland series and are made by my close friend, Steve McCarthy, who is also Jack McCarthy's older brother. Created with UV reactive glass, these marbles 'light up' when exposed to 'magic' black lights.
3D printed D20 in steel. Vertook would have loved a bag full of these.
One Of A Kind Signed Original Cover Paintings
Framed behind conservation quality UV protective glass. The paintings have been used in the World of Godsland fantasy series and are signed by Jack Hoyle of T-Rex Studios. I will also sign the paper backing upon request. I'll really miss these, but I really want this project to succeed!
The secondary goal of this project is to produce audio versions of the books and make them free for everyone in the world via Podiobooks.com and iTunes, which is how I initially found an audience for my work.
This is where stretch goals come in. As soon as we surpass each funding goal lited below, the associated reward will become available. If we achieve all the stretch goals, everyone will receive free audiobooks!

Brian Rathbone - Born and raised on a horse farm in southern New Jersey, Brian Rathbone never did quite fit in--still doesn't. If you need someone to take you on an adventure or to tell terrible dragon jokes, Brian is your man. He lives in the mountains of North Carolina with his wife and some very spoiled cats.
Morgen Rich - Morgen Rich grew up in the southwestern U.S., where the sky reminds humans just how small they really are. She lives mostly in Pennsylvania with her husband and two Great Pyrenees, Bianca and Tahoe. On occasion, she lives in Lincoln, England. Founder of Bookmite Press and a member of the Broad Universe board of directors, Morgen is an active member of the speculative fiction profession. In addition to Ascension, a YA fantasy novel set in co-writer Brian Rathbone's Godsland world, she's also the author of the adult epic science fantasy novels, Incorrigible (2013) and Discordant (2016), both set in her imaginative Shifting Worlds universe.
Jack McCarthy - Jack McCarthy was born and raised in Salem, NJ and is a long-time resident of Cleveland, OH. His lifelong path to writing has included: dishwasher, video store clerk, taekwondo instructor, factory assembly worker, telemarketer, casual letter carrier, office temp, door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman, phone psychic, cashier, gas station manager, flight attendant and software engineer. This combined skill set could belong only to one destined to write fantasy novels.

Risks and challenges
By waiting until the novels were completely edited, the cover art created, the ebooks formatted, and all but one of the paperback proofs in hand, most risks for this project have been alleviated. Onin has been edited but there are a couple minor changes that delayed the paperback a bit.
Getting the hardcover editions laid out, shipped, and signed by multiple authors could lead to delays, but I think I've allocated sufficient time even if we encounter some issues. In the event that Morgen, Jack, and I are unable to get together and sign everything at once, I have allotted sufficient funds to ship the items multiple times.
If we reach our stretch goal for the audio editions, the voice work, audio editing, and processing can be time consuming. In the event that issues arise with the audiobooks, I am prepared to record and edit them myself, even if I might be a little rusty.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
