About

One Last Job is a strategy card game for 2 players that plays out in about 30 minutes. One player takes on the role of the Crew, assembling a team of operatives with specialized equipment and using daring tactics to pull off a heist. Meanwhile, the other player acts as The Powers That Be, secretly laying traps and deploying countermeasures while working to grow their influence over the city. Can the Crew get in and get out before The Powers complete their nefarious scheme?

One Last Job features hidden information, bluffing, and calculated risks as both players outwit and adapt to each other. In this seedy world of corruption and evil agendas, nothing is certain. An apparently easy heist can quickly go south due to unforeseen complications, while a near impossible one can be miraculously pulled off. Every action and counteraction is a dangerous gamble for both sides.

Whether you want to play the classic heist of an elite professional team taking on the mafia to settle a score, or perhaps something more fantastical, One Last Job has you covered. Ever wonder how a group of 90’s hackers would fare at preventing a world crisis by an evil mastermind? Or if you could get wacky street gangs to put aside their in-fighting to steal the knowledge of a secret society? One Last Job features 6 factions (three for each side), each with their own unique strategies and flavor, and can be mixed and matched to form decks as players see fit.

Everything you need to play One Last Job is in the box. You can start playing immediately by using one of the premade decks, or completely customize your decks. Every game plays out differently depending on the factions, heists, and strategies involved, allowing for high replayability.

This campaign is just the start. With your help, One Last Job could expand into something far bigger.

ASYMMETRY — The Powers are working to spread their influence over a series of scenes before the Crew can disrupt the plot, taking everything they’ve got.

NON-COMBAT TACTICS — One Last Job is a game about planning, positioning, and sneaking. You can’t just shoot your way into a vault.

HIDDEN INFORMATION — The Powers lay down hidden cards to set traps while the Crew plans as best they can before boldly executing the operation.

DIVERSE CAST OF CHARACTERS — Running the gamut, One Last Job features hackers, wannabe cowboys, mobsters, waiters, gamblers, and grandmothers in a (mostly) modern setting.

THE RIGHT TOOLS — Customize your play with tranquilizer guns, shotguns, hacked camera feeds, pressure plates, guard dogs, and robot vacuums.

ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES — With 6 unique factions and neutral cards, there are millions of deck building options right out of the box.

"It knocked it out of the park for me. It was everything I wanted in an asymmetric card game... this is definitely a game I’m looking forward to!”

"In practice, this turns into a really tense combination of chess and poker, where the Crew has to decide how best to assign their resources, while simultaneously trying to determine if the Powers are massing for a big score or just bluffing a trap."

"Easily one of the best tabletop card games I've ever played. Balanced, strategic, and most importantly - thrilling."—John Treviranus, Former Lead Designer of Duelyst, Android: Netrunner US National Champion.

Schemers, grifters, and lifelong cons. This crew of heisters are not interested in small scores. They are in it for that one last job that will finally get them out of the game and onto a Caribbean island.

They focus on simple, strong, and efficient operatives with the right skills at the right time. They don't go into a scene without knowing what they are going to hit and how they are going to deal with any unforeseen complications.

The most important element of any heist? One look at the Gangs will tell you: coordinated uniforms.

Street gangs aren't known for getting along. But when a five finger discount is more like a 10 million finger discount, petty disputes get pushed aside.

They aren't interested in preparation, and they don't care that you can see them. These hoodlums operate on chaos and disruption. They will come in en masse, smash up their opponent's plans, and pull the goods from the rubble.

Cheap energy drinks, state of the art ISDN modems, roller blades, and the unlimited potential of a 66MHz CPU. These are the tools of the trade when you're one of the Phreaks.

These tech heads prefer social engineering and hacks over direct confrontation. They don't have the raw skills of the Professionals, but they have the tools to compensate. They'll tap into a camera feed so they can dodge the guards. They'll get that new password from some poor sap who responds to any email he's sent. If there's some flaw in a security system, know that the Phreaks have some way to exploit it.

The Mob are all about family values, respect, and strong-arm business tactics. They have a business to run, and woe to any who would get in the way of business.

They might not always stop the Crew from hitting a score or two. But they have eyes everywhere and a tendency to retaliate. Cross the Mob and the back room of the casino might be the last place you'll ever see.

Exerting total control over his minions, Director Max von Waltz is in charge and he will make sure the trains run on time. Literally.

Director von Waltz makes every effort to make sure everything and everyone is where he wants it to be. After all, an organization that isn't moving is an organization that's stuck in place. And If the Crew finds themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, they may find it rather… unpleasant.

"Without order, they are lost. We are order." —The Overseer.

If you want to get anything done in this world, you need to know the right person. And chances are, that person is in the Society.

The Society demands total loyalty of its members. Everybody is expected to contribute to the progress of the collective in some way or another. And there is complete faith that every pawn sacrifice made is necessary for the greater good. For the Society knows that all things are temporary, maybe even death itself.

We plan to work with an international friendly fulfillment management company to keep our costs low and make it so most backers won't have to worry about VAT.

Shipping within the United States is included. Shipping to Canada, Australia, and the EU is an additional $10; the rest of the world, an additional $25.

Brian Cronin is a programmer and game designer. He usually works on PC games but the idea of a card game about a heist got stuck in his head, and he needed to get it out.

A. Cabrera is a recovering data engineer and co-designer of One Last Job. Whatever game you're playing with them, they're happy to answer any rules questions. And of course they're not one of the spies. Why would you even think that?

Risks and challenges

While Brian has shipped PC games in the past, this is our first tabletop game. We have done research and received quotes from manufacturers and shipping/fulfillment partners. But there are always unknowns that could come up.

The biggest challenge we foresee is finishing the art for the game. We've worked with multiple artists already and gotten a feel for the process. Still, there are many more pieces left to commission, so that will take time, and art costs are a big portion of what our funding is for.

Since this is our first tabletop project, we've tried to be a bit conservative with our delivery estimate to give us ample time to address any problems that may arise.
