Greetings, Splatter Campers! Welcome to the official fundraising campaign for the forthcoming slasher epic 'SPLATTER CAMP'!
Splatter Camp™ is a full-length feature film that tells the story of a group of young filmmakers who, while filming a documentary at the long since closed CAMP CANDY, discover that the legend of SCARY LARRY may be more than just fiction when a string of murders start picking them off, one-by-one.
Things only worsen for the survivors when distrust begins to tear them apart, for how could Scary Larry be real? Is this killer the authentic package? Could it actually be the groundskeeper? Or, has the so-called masked madman been residing among the members of the group all along, posing as one of the helpless survivors?
Splatter Camp will be an old-school style Slasher Film with undertones of comedy and fun, as well as elements of modern-day meta. The film takes inspiration from and will pay homage to 80's horror films and their villainous icons, especially that of Jason Voorhees the beloved Friday the 13th franchise he belongs to.
The idea for Splatter Camp came to writer/director Brandon Tobatto after several attempts to reach Paramount Pictures with a pitch for a new Friday the 13th film failed. Out of this disappointment, and during the midway between Tobatto's last project 'Sugarplum', and his continuing work on 'Madhouse', Tobatto carried over almost all of the elements and story beats of that original treatment, molding the final product into its own version of Friday the 13th without being Friday the 13th.
What was born was a self-aware, 80's throwback slasher story, with likable characters, purposely campy scenes and dialogue, and a new franchise icon that is, himself, aware of and inspired by his horror idol: Jason Voorhees. This, of course, is the character of Scary Larry, and it has become apparent, judging from the screenplay, that even he would give Jason a run for his money.
Without the financial backing of a major studio, Tobatto and his team decided to fund and produce the film independently, with positions both in front of and behind the cameras being filled by either long-time Team Tobatto members, or picked from the pools of both independent actors and filmmakers alike. This will be the fundraising campaign that decides whether Splatter Camp is a small-time, low-budget little indie horror flick, or a well-funded, masterfully polished independent slasher film!
We here at Decomposing Pictures truly believe that if we are blessed with the funds to grab this opportunity by the heels, Splatter Camp will be a slasher movie unlike anything you've ever seen before.
Our team has devoted the last few months to planning the production of Splatter Camp; figuring out what we need to produce a high-quality horror film that will not only look and sound fantastic, but present itself as something unique within a sea of horror excess.
Our fundraising goal of $10,000 will contribute to the full scope and scale of this project, from principle photography to post-production, and of course, give our believers the opportunity to walk away with some really great backer rewards.
With the pledges made by our backers, Splatter Camp will begin principle photography in late May 2018 in Rutledge, Georgia, at the Camp Daniel Morgan campground, which also happens to be the filming site of Camp Crystal Lake in 1986's Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives.
Splatter Camp will then conclude principle photography back in the team's home state of Florida, with post-production starting shortly after. Our ultimate goal is to release the completed film in June 2019, along with all of our backer rewards. To help you better understand where your contribution will be going, here is a general breakdown of where campaign funds will be invested:
Production: This covers all of our crew and equipment. Camera, sound, lighting, you name it. Also included are items such as the cost of insurance and permits required for the location, plus the costs of location rentals, as well.
Backer Rewards: This portion of the budget will go towards Kickstarter fees and the purchase of rewards for backers.
VFX / Post: This portion includes both visual and audio post production services which completes the film's final look and feel.
Props / Wardrobe: The Production Design and Costume department will dress the set and our actors to fit the part.
Practical Makeup FX: The Practical Make-up FX department will be handling all things GORE; blood, guts, slime, saliva- you name it! We have a lot of horror effects to live up to!
Music/ Sound FX: A film's score may be the most important element in creating an impactful horror film. Splatter Camp creator/writer/director will not only be composing select score tracks for the film, but also an array of custom sound effects.
Volunteers: This project will be made, as all of our other 'no-budget' films are, using a team made almost entirely out of volunteers, who will donate their time at no cost to the project itself, besides the costs of transportation and the means to execute their on-set duties. Composed of friends, family, and colleagues, this group also includes the core Decomposing Pictures team, who are taking no payment for their services. If you are interested in joining the team, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by messaging the Splatter Camp Facebook page.

Decomposing Pictures is a film production house that exclusively produces horror films. It was founded by Brandon Tobatto in the mid-2000's, and is a subsidiary of Tobatto's parent company, Tobatto Entertainment Industries.
Since its formation, DP has released several low-budget horror films, both for free viewing on Youtube, as well as for purchase on sites such as Amazon.com. Some of the more 'popular' films in the DP catalogue consist of 2017's 'Cottontail', 2016's 'Loons', and the 2015 slasher epic 'Loon', which just surpassed 1 MILLION VIEWS on Youtube. Most, if not all, of these films were made with a budget of just over $100; this is NO-BUDGET FILM-MAKING at its finest!
As previously stated, we plan on making SPLATTER CAMP as big as we can, so you can count on us doing our absolute best to hire the upmost experienced professionals from the independent circuit; those willing to devote their lives and time to the Splatter Camp cause! As of now, roughly 35% of the film's CAST/CREW has been locked down, with Brandon Tobatto taking on the role of writer/director/producer/cinematographer/editor/composer (jack of all trades), and Shanna Ammons hopping aboard the Splatter Camp train as an Executive Producer, Assistant Director, Sound Recorder & Boom Operator, as well as Assistant Cinematography. The names and roles of the other talented members of the CAST/CREW will be revealed closer to the start of principle photography.
Although many of the scenes that DO NOT take place at Camp Candy (the title of the Camp in Splatter Camp) will be shot in our home-state of Florida, the majority (if not all) of the scenes that take place at the Camp itself will be filmed at CAMP DANIEL MORGAN, in Rutledge, Georgia.
For those who don't know, what makes Camp Daniel Morgan so special to writer/director Brandon Tobatto, and to the Splatter Camp film itself, is that CDM is the very same campgrounds used for the Camp Crystal Lake scenes in the 1986 horror masterpiece 'Jason Lives: Friday the 13th part VI'! This is an epic location, and perfectly captures the look and feel needed to properly execute a production such as Splatter Camp!
We would like to thank that valiant personnel of Camp Daniel Morgan and Hard Labor Creek State Park for being so patient with our team as we locked down scheduling and worked out the minor details!
Thank you for your support of indie horror! Please donate and share this page with any friends or family you believe will enjoy this type of film. We hope to welcome you as a part of the Splatter Camp family and are greatly appreciative for any support you can give. See you at summer camp!

Risks and challenges
Every film project comes with an expected list of risks and possible challenges, and Splatter Camp is NO EXCEPTION. Due the entire Team here at Decomposing Pictures having clocked in nearly a decade worth of experience in the area of independent film, we are confident that should any issues and challenges arise (and they will), we will be able to tackle said road-blocks with little no loss in the quality of film. The biggest risks come from getting so very many VOLUNTEER cast/crew members for the shoot at Camp Daniel Morgan. Luckily, should anyone 'bail', as it were, we have a fantastic source out that way that is ready to re-cast and re-crew for us on the fly... IF need be! Other than that, SPLATTER CAMP is well equipped to handle EVERY OTHER ISSUE that may arise... and they will arise! ;)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
