We've created premium quality, ethical, eco-conscious T-shirts that we know you’re going to love...
Here’s why you need a Born Hybrid T-shirt in your closet:
1. Taking inspiration from the world around us, our T-shirts feature highly detailed illustrations of endangered and extinct animals. Drawn with fineliners and edited digitally, our designs offer a level of detail that you won’t find anywhere else.
2. They are made exclusively from sustainable, natural plant fibres, specially selected for comfort and breathability.
3. Our garments are manufactured using renewable green energy, printed using eco-friendly water-based inks and delivered in biodegradable and recyclable packaging.
And if that wasn't enough, we have made a commitment to give a proportion of our annual profits to environmental charity World Land Trust.
We truly want to be the lifestyle brand with the highest possible social and environmental standards. You can support us on this mission by backing our project today.
The Ultimate Eco-Friendly T-Shirt
We’re printing on the most environmentally friendly T-shirts we could get our hands on. Available in both men's and women's styles, they're exceptionally soft, super flattering and tick pretty much every box we could think of.
You choose the design and the fabric. Born Hybrid T-shirts are available in...
- 50% combed organic cotton & 50% sustainably sourced wood pulp (Tencel lyocell)
- 100% combed organic cotton
These materials have their own unique qualities and it's down to you to decide which you prefer. We'll explain more about their differences later.
Our Fabrics are...
Drawn By Hand, Brought To Life With Technology
Born Hybrid T-shirts feature large scale, nature inspired designs by artist and project co-creator, Emily. Drawn using fineliners with a 0.01mm nib, our illustrations feature an impressive level of detail.
To ensure all of the detail has been captured, we print our designs with top of the range DTG printers, using eco-friendly water based inks.
This is the fun bit. You get to build your own T-shirt, selecting your favourite design, fabric and fit.
Step 1: Choose your Design
Choose any of our designs to have printed on a T-shirt. Like 3 designs? Order 3 T-shirts and have each one printed with a different animal. You can even mix and match between men’s and women’s styles, sizes and colours. See our full range of designs below...
- African Lion (Conservation Status: Vulnerable)
This design combines the skull of the recently extinct Barbary lion with the face of today’s African lion. On the right are audio waveforms produced by the sound of a lion's roar, recorded by the artist using video production software.
- Poison Dart Frog (Many Species are Endangered)
Not all of this family are technically poisonous, but those that are derive their toxicity from their diet of ants, mites and termites. Many species of poison dart frogs have recently experienced habitat loss, disease, and collection for the pet trade. As a result, some are now listed as threatened or endangered.
- Siamese Fighting Fish (Conservation Status: Vulnerable)
Siamese fighting fish are known to be highly territorial and are prone to high levels of aggression if kept in the same tank. This design symbolises the territory wars that are also characteristic of the human race. The use of chemical and nuclear weapons in modern warfare has had a colossal impact on the environment—particularly marine ecosystems.
- Sierra Nevada Bighorn Sheep (Conservation Status: Endangered)
This design shows the impressive impact at which rutting bighorn sheep collide. Their shock absorbing skulls can withstand 800lbs of force. By 1900, the bighorn population decreased to several thousand. Conservation has allowed two out of the three bighorn subspecies to make a comeback, though the Sierra Nevada Bighorn is still endangered.
- The Stag Beetle (Protected in the UK - Priority Species)
The stag beetle is the UK's largest land beetle, spending most of its life underground. Loss of habitat has seen their numbers decline across Europe, with stag beetles now red listed in many European countries. This design features circuit board detail on the body, inspired by remote-controlled 'biobot' insect experiments that are currently underway.
- Born Hybrid Logo T-shirt
For those who want to show their support but prefer a simpler design. We've printed our logo on our high quality, sustainably produced T-shirts.
Step 2: Choose your Fabric and Fit
To help select the best material for you, we've included some handy information explaining the differences between our two styles and fabrics. There's also a size guide and rewards table at the end of our campaign.
Unsure which design, fabric or fit you prefer? Don't worry, there's plenty of time to decide. We'll collect these details in a post-campaign survey.
Our Two Fabrics Compared
Our Eco Credentials: Born Hybrid T-shirts are...
We Support the Creation of Protected Nature Reserves
Our products are inspired by the natural world, so every year we make it our mission to give something back. We've promised to give a proportion of our annual profits to environmental charity World Land Trust, supporting their Buy an Acre appeal. The money we donate helps to fund the creation of permanently protected nature reserves.
Our Personal Goal
To fund our project, we need to raise £4000. In reality, this will barely cover the costs of producing the T-shirts and running our campaign. Once our project is complete, we want to launch an online shop. But we can't do that without any stock. We've crunched the numbers and to help us achieve this goal we need £7000.
So apart from backing us, what else can you do to help? We need as many people as possible to know about our project, so every share on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will really help us out. And as a thank you, if we reach our personal goal of £7000, we will reproduce our most popular design as a limited run of A5 prints. These will be printed onto recycled heavyweight paper using eco-friendly inks and shipped out to every backer purchasing one or more T-shirts.
Please note: early bird offers are limited and will be available on a first come first serve basis. Once sold out, backers will still be able to take advantage of multibuy savings.
Please note that backers based outside of the UK are responsible for any duties, fees and taxes applicable to your region.
Postage and packaging rates reflect the actual cost to us. International parcels will take 5-8 working days and will be delivered Royal Mail International Standard (1-3 T-shirts) or International Tracked and Signed (4+ T-shirts). Tracking is available at an additional fee for parcels containing 1-3 T-shirts. Please contact us to arrange. UK parcels will be delivered Royal Mail Second Class (1-2 T-shirts), Second Class Signed For (3-5 T-shirts) or Tracked 48 (6+ T-shirts).
Ultra Low Carbon Delivery
If you are ordering 1 or 2 T-shirts from outside the UK and would like to reduce your carbon footprint, contact us to arrange sending your parcel exclusively via surface mail. Please note that this could increase delivery times by an additional 3 months. To compensate for the extra money spent on shipping, we will email you a gift card to use on future purchases through our website. The value of this gift card will be equal to your overspend on postage. For example, if you have paid £10 for postage, but surface mail costs £6, we will send you a voucher for £4 to use on bornhybrid.com.

We Aim to be 100% Honest and Transparent
This project has been several years in the making. Why? Because we’ve researched every last detail to make sure our brand is sustainable. From ensuring our inks are non-toxic and biodegradable, to making educated choices about the T-shirts we use. Even our packaging is recyclable and compostable, replacing plastic with plant based materials.
We have learned that the decision to create a sustainable business is no small undertaking—it involves huge amounts of research and perseverance. Perhaps you can think of a way that we can be more sustainable? We are always open to helpful suggestions.
Where do your Eco T-shirts Come From?
We source our T-shirts from a UK based company who produce them in India. In addition to their commitment to using renewable energy, they also provide safe working conditions and a fair wage for their workers. UK backers will be pleased to know that their garments have never flown, significantly reducing their impact on the environment.
Why not follow us as Project Creators? We have lots of ideas in the pipeline that we think you’re going to love.
In the future, we intend to diversify and manufacture a full range of sustainable clothing. First, we need your support. We are small fish and need to build our following to the point where we are confident we can reach manufacturers' minimum order quantities. This is why we are on Kickstarter asking for you to help us get the ball rolling.

Risks and challenges
We will take great care to ensure all of our backers receive a quality product that they are proud to wear. We have already created the designs, seen the prototypes and are super happy with the results! If this campaign is successful, we are 100% confident that we will be able to deliver our rewards.
That being said, if any challenges do arise, we will notify our backers immediately, maintaining an honest and open line of communication throughout.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
