We of Boreas have long nursed a secret dream: to travel the coast, singing for our supper, spreading far and wide the music of... bicycles!
This summer, for 17 days, we are touring through Arizona, California and Oregon in pursuit of that dream. We are playing in bars, clubs, houses, bike co-ops, and out on the street. Our tour begins with a benefit concert for BICAS (Bicycle Inter-Community Art and Salvage), from whose underground womb were birthed the bicycle-built instruments we play alongside our more traditional axes.
We want to do our part to spread the gospel of the bicycle - in ALL its forms and uses - and the DIY aesthetic - and the spirit of cooperation & brotherly love. For it is also true that we are a melodic and whimsical indie rock band, and yet we tour with the ferocious rapping vampire Mossferatu, whose lyrics drain even the reddest-blooded American ghost-pale. If we can play shows together - and we do - what then? Peace between the undead and the living? Anything is possible.
So we humbly ask for your assistance in this matter. Give us this money - lessen for us, a little, the great financial pain of touring - and we will endeavor to give you a present which will delight and entertain:

The Kjalvötn script was invented by Bob as an ancillary to his senior thesis - which was about clouds (yes, as in weather) speaking Old Norse. I bet you are curious. I bet you want something sealed with sealing wax.
The contents of the letter will, under a certain diligence, initiate the reader into an even greater mystery.

Our tasty new EP, "Bicycle Built For Tour," contains all-new songs from the past 3 years, including a few about bicycles, and including the sounds of bike instruments and actual bicycles. And also guitars and things.
The packaging of each is unique, as we are making all the sleeves by hand. We are, in fact, carving the wood blocks we'll use to print the sleeves with, and we are making the ink as well (out of pomegranates, water, rust and baked cornstarch. No joke.)
It is only available through this Kickstarter campaign and via our live shows. And since it is so context-specific, we are not going to press it again once this first limited edition runs out!

We have engaged the services of a variety of talented friends to bring you SHIRTS. Designs include a greyhound, an eyeball, an eyeball-mandala, an eyeball-mandala-pennyfarthing, and a chupacabra riding a bike off a ramp while making devil horns. Our shirts are non-sweatshop; they are printed with either the same handmade ink and blocks we used for our EP packaging, or by traditional silkscreening techniques at the infamous Gloo Factory.
Yes, we will write and record a new song. Just for you. Seriously.
Know that we already love you.
