Deadrock Divide is our take on tactical games by combining elements of sandbox RPG. It provides replayability with random elements that make each playthrough fresh, including beating the game with each of the three factions.
The Divide is a region at the edge of the galaxy. Mining in the Divide is difficult and costly. Renowned for the huge amount of space between it and the nearest inhabited system, it's the place miners went to get away.
The Divide has another reason people did not like it – some rocks have inactive mines where automated robots offload the minerals to their masters. When miners approach, these automated droids defend the asteroids fiercely. It is unknown who left behind these robots.
Then Deadrock was found.
Deadrock is incredibly valuable. Used all over the galaxy, its value is astronomical. Finding Deadrock brought in money, power, and conflict.
The Divide is not considered part of any other region of the galaxy. This meant there was no law and no one stopping a massacre. Multiple fleets entered the region and fought in terrible and costly battles. Very little actual mining happened as these war fleets fought.A truce was called by necessity.
The fragile peace of the rest of the galaxy has been broken. All warships were called back to battle in an epic war for the throne. This has left Deadrock Divide alone again but with more influence entering.
Corporations are still greedy. People still demand Deadrock. The flood of prospectors has opened.
People are entering the Divide for riches, to flee the war, or to get away from whatever demons chase them. It has created an unstable and vicious stretch of space.
Enter Deadrock Divide. Build a crew. Pick a faction and conquer.
Whenever you board a ship, fight a space station, or even just mine for minerals, it all takes place in turn-by-turn tactical combat with your crew. Move your soldiers to take cover, fire weapons, toss grenades, build turrets and more.
The objects in the battlefield are fully destructible. If you know an alien is behind a wall, blow up the wall to give your other soldiers line of fire. Throw down a turret to provide cover as the walls around you are taken down. Use Space Magic to take enemies out of cover and ensure your sniper’s best shot.
The ships in Deadrock are as varied as their tasks. Cargo haulers, drillers, hot rods, and more are flying through space. You’ll be able to buy a number of different ships, upgrade them, and fly across space in your missions.
Each ship is made up of a number of rooms. You can upgrade, change, and rearrange the rooms in your ship whenever you visit a hangar. Do you want to do some mining? You will need a drilling room. Do you want to carry more cargo so you can trade more at a time? Buy more cargo rooms. There will be over a dozen different types of rooms for you play around with. What’s really cool, as well, if you get boarded, you will fight on your ship in the layout of rooms you have created. Want help fighting off boarders? Buy a sentry room with turrets in it.
Meet with the varied peoples of Deadrock Divide. The asteroid will be a place to fly around and uncover the world. We'll tell the story of those lost aliens as well as the battles that brought the Divide to the place it is now.
The world of Deadrock Divide has a history that we are excited to leave for the player to find. Discovery in sandbox environments are always some of the most satisfying moments for us.
Three major factions have entered the Divide in attempt to control the Deadrock. Players can help the factions in their plans and eventually the player can join one of the factions and take control of the region.
D.I.G. was in the region before Deadrock was found. It's a group of miners trying yo get by. Originally when corporations flooded in the miners in the area just let it be. Eventually as the conflicts escalated the miners felt they needed to push back. Slowly many of the miners in the area have formed together to control the major rocks and force the corporations out.
Servius Industries is one of the larger technology companies throughout the Galaxy. With the uncovered Deadrock there was some desire to move in for the elusive ore. Servius had long desired to uncover the technology of the robot miners, but Deadrock allowed the company to offset costs of research with the profits they would recover from mining Deadrock. The Lost hate being in the Divide. They are a splinter group of an alien race. Sent here to mine Deadrock in massive quantities, The Lost are mining as much of the mineral as possible to get out of the region as fast as possible. They use the most destructive though speedy methods of getting Deadrock out of the rocks.
Dru loves puppies, rainbows, and whiskey. He also loves tactical games, strategy games, and RPGs. Dru comes from a AAA background where he made strategy games, and a game where you killed a bunch of bad guys that ran down lanes. When Dru isn’t coding the far reaches of our galaxy, he plays every board game he can get his hands on.
Mat has a beard. In his previous life, he animated men, women, and monsters in an MMO on the high seas. With Deadrock, he’s thrilled to create a world inspired from awesome 80’s cartoons and sci-fi, mashing them together and creating a unique world. Mat has long loved deep RPG game systems. You can find him tweaking a mech for hours or thinking about new builds for all sorts of games.
Steve is a master of pen and ink. He’s worked on almost every aspect of creating art for a number of game projects over the years. From concept all the way through final animation, Steve painstakingly crafts all the intricate elements of Deadrock Divide. The world has more scan lines, neon, and glow thanks to Steve.
Bootsnake previously made Containment: The Zombie Puzzler, a puzzle game that was selected as one of the PAX10 in 2012 and Google Play Best of 2013. Containment is a unique puzzle game combining elements of match three games with the classic game Go.

You'll work with us to make sure it fits the world and is apporpriate. It will bear your fingerprints all over.
The main risk of making this sort of project is to run late in development. We feel like we have the game in a strong position and need to finish with more support. We have a schedule in place that we think is attainable and will push very hard to reach it.
If our funding goals are pushed beyond our initial goal, we will be adding additional content that may delay the official launch. We are not anticipating a year long delay, but a few months may be necessary.
We have made and released games in the past. Many of the pitfalls of making games we have seen before and are ready to tackle. There are always new and exciting challenges, but we are excited to learn from them and make an even better title.
This game is something we feel is very special and will push ourselves and claw at to make sure it finishes.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
