ABOUT BOOKLYN

Booklyn is THE source for unique and limited edition contemporary artists' books and works on paper. Founded in 1999, Booklyn has formed an international network bringing thousands of artists and educational organizations in direct contact, created innovative fundraising projects for arts and activist organizations, and provided financial and production resources to thousands of artists.

Booklyn has also been a pioneer in promoting the collecting of artist books as research tools for innovative and progressive education.

Confirming Booklyn's important role, the Rare Book and Special Collections Division of the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. has recently acquired Booklyn’s first decade's archives!

Now you can help Booklyn gain more visibility and provide more resources to the public through a website with a searchable artist book and artist database. With your help, artists, book lovers, collectors, curators, educators, and students worldwide will be able to view covers and pages from each Booklyn book, along with artist information, exhibition histories, and more.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Booklyn’s staff is committed to getting our books in front of as many eyes as possible through constant touring, lectures, and classes. It’s time for us to go to the next level and increase our audience through the web.

We’ve already migrated our collections databases to a format that can be shared online, but we need your help to bring our front end up to speed and produce an elegant, user-friendly and functional site.

Two years ago, we used Kickstarter to pull together funds to catalog our first Decade: 35 cubic feet of material documenting Artists Books at the Turn of the Century. Thanks to 72 people, we raised the money we needed to stay on track. Now, we are coming back to you.

Help us double our number of supporters. Help us turn our digital database into a functional, friendly, searchable website.

Booklyn is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; not only will your tax-deductible donations help this cause, but we will send you some fabulous stuff as rewards. Visit our flickr page for images and more information!
