THANK YOU!, Campaign Re-Launch Info & Greenlight!

We would like to send everyone a HUGE thank you for supporting the campaign over the last 30+ days! It's been a great learning experience for us, we have made some great friends, and heard some awesome stories about the original Boogerman. Please make sure to visit our Toy Ghost LLC website and leave your e-mail address so we can keep you in the loop on the campaign re-launch, and future Toy Ghost games and announcements!

Hey everyone! So as of right now, it looks like we will potentially do some sort of campaign re-launch towards the beginning of 2014!

In order to give the campaign a better shot at funding we are going to do a few things:

  • The game will no longer be a 20th Anniversary reboot. We are going to approach this as an actual sequel to the original game. The new name is TBD.
  • We will show new game footage - This is something that we will be working on over the next two months.
  • The target goal will be greatly reduced.
  • We will start on PC, MAC, Linux, and a single console (TBD) - We will include other consoles as stretch goals this time.
  • We will be starting with the original animations from the 1994 game - They are being re-done in HD and still look amazing.
  • We are going to start with a smaller number of worlds, levels, and bosses.
  • We are going to move new game mechanics like co-op, and swimming into achievable stretch goals.

This campaign is almost over, but Boogerman Steam Greenlight is STILL GOING strong! Getting approved on Greenlight will give us an even better shot at getting funded next time around. We are currently 70% of the way to the top 100, so please, please continue to spread the word about Steam Greenlight and vote YES on green!

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE! Please keep in touch through Kickstarter, Twitter, and our Toy Ghost LLC website. This is only the beginning!

Chris & Mike!

And in the words of Snotty Ragsdale...

Looks like this will never happen. Website is dead and no updates on Greenlight since 2013. Sad. Boogerman was one of my favorite games as a kid. If you guys still have the IP for this, contact me. I'd love to get my hands on it (I'm a video game dev owner myself).

    2. Lee Sparkes on November 22, 2013

These sound like some very smart decisions to me. Take your time guys. I think in-game footage will be a huge asset in getting your campaign funded. Best of luck to you both and as always, BOOOOOOOGER!

    3. Antonio Ortiz on November 22, 2013

I like the idea : ) (And I think it´s better to keep the coop etc for a stretch goal, and focusing in the single player experience!)

    4. Will Tebo on November 21, 2013

I'll be back for the next campaign. Sounds great!

And I vote for Wii U as well.

    5. Edwin García on November 20, 2013

I loved the idea of the HD reboot but a sequel doesn't sound bad at all, specially with all the new ideas and material you guys have.
I'll be here to support the next campaign too.
Oh, and yes, the console should definitely be the Wii U.

    6. Cameron Perry on November 20, 2013

Sounds like a solid plan to me. I'll definitely be back for the second Kickstarter.

As for a sequel title, might I suggest Boogerman 2: Electric Boogerloo?

    7. David Bruno on November 20, 2013

Great run guys! Next time Boogerman will pick a winner and I'll be sure to be there for it.

so, it will be a smaller game?
or the rest to aproach to the actual project will be trough stretch goals?
      well..let's see

Sorry this didn't work out, but I'm glad you're trying again. Best of luck. I promise I'll be there.

I hope the console version will be Wii U. It is the ultimate console for plateformer.

Why on earth would they make mobile devices their target platform? If they go the high spec route, they can relatively quickly port a high quality version their game between Xbone/PS4/PC/Mac/Linux/Steambox.

The alternative is making a low spec game for iPhone/Android that will fail to impress on the higher spec platforms.

Furthermore, most of the people who have nostalgia for this series would rather play a 2d sidescroller with a gamepad than with touch controls, I'm assuming.

Of course, gamepads exist for iPhone and Android, but designing the game around them would be severely limiting your audience on platforms where word of mouth and mass exposure are key.

      In other words, bad idea.

Great to hear and all the best in advance!
Regarding the console version: WiiU, WiiU, WiiU! :)

    16. Guilherme Reis Bonfim on November 20, 2013

I have never played a platformer on a mobile and enjoyed it. Mobile is more suited to RPGs and puzzle games, since those can be played well on the go.

Guys, you're still doing it wrong! :(
These days those kind of games are played on mobile, not on desktop/laptop. Make it on mobile, generate a lot of hype, then you'll have enough money to make it for PC/consoles. You're making a hit'n'run game after all, so target those players - on mobile! Android/iPhone is a must.
I see that some people prefer this to be a sequel. I'll give my vote for a remake in HD. People from the last 20+ years don't know this game, it'll be new to them, and you already have a winning formula.
Whatever you choose, best of luck! I'll join as a pledger again.

    18. Riggo on November 19, 2013

      I'll be back!!!!

    19. Antonio Sanchez - Derosian Studios on November 19, 2013

Seems like you guys did indeed learn quite a bit from this, even if you might not be successful this time. I do like the idea of having this be a sequel instead of a 20th anniversary reboot, as it wouldn't pressure you guys to releasing the game just to coincide with the anniversary and would give you more freedom to develop and release the game when you are satisfied with the end product. And releasing this on fewer platforms is also a smart move, seeing as it would obviously reduce costs (I'd vouch for the Wii U as your console of choice though).

I know this may not mean much coming from just one backer who's been keeping really quiet throughout this whole thing, but no matter what happens, I'm proud of you guys for sticking through with this campaign to the end and even moreso for still having the passion and drive to keep going with this project. From where I stand, there's definitely a lack of games in the industry nowadays that are not only really great to play, but also have a creative and absurd sense of humor, and it'd be great to see Boogerman bring some of that back.

Best of luck, Chris and Mike. You'll definitely get my support next time.

sounds promising, be sure to keep earthworm jim as a player thought and do an AMA Redditt when you start the next campagin, those thing generate a lot of buzz and usually put Kickstarters over the top.

    23. vislade on November 19, 2013

Sounds like a good plan guys you know I'll be back to support and I know well make the relaunch goal!

You seems to have good plans. I'll be there for the next round for sure. Good luck.

    26. CosmosJester on November 19, 2013

I admit i'd rather play a sequel than a reboot, i will pledge to that one too :o
