Races of New Era (RONE) is a strategic post-apocalyptic card game for 2 to 4 players set in a dark world full of destruction and suffering. It combines exciting and unique card game mechanisms with enormous possibilities of how to play the game.
You will recruit soldiers, battle machines, powerful hybrids and tremendous mutants into your army, then equip them with the available technologies to show your enemies who rules the new world order.
The game is available in English and Czech. A German version can be unlocked by stretch goal.
Czech and German versions do not include new card backs to keep the game consistent.
In order to reward you for your help with this project we have designed special heroe that will be available only for Kickstarter backers and will never hit retail.
The first, and most important exclusive content, is a hero, "Morda". This is a special hero based on a real man, Pavel Mořický, aka "Morda".
Morda was the first play tester for RONE and he helped a lot with designing basic concepts of the game. We really appreciate what he has done for this project. Unfortunately, Morda was in a fatal car accident last year. To honor his memory, we have decided to design a card that holds his portrait.

In RONE, players are represented by their hero and play units or one-time effects (tactics) in an attempt to destroy all cards from the opponent’s deck. The number of cards in the deck and the player’s hand represent the number of health points of that player's hero. For each point of damage that the hero receives, the player has to destroy one of their cards – from the top of their deck or from their hand. Once a player loses all cards from their deck and hand they lose the game. Because each card used by a player during the game costs them a life point, players are forced to play cards as efficiently as possible so that each played card does more damage to the enemy than to themselves.
Players have to find a balance between investing in game control, which allows them to play cards more effectively, or investing in killing the enemy hero, which is the primary goal. This means that players should control their damage output wisely. One can easily feed the enemy graveyard with destroyed cards, which may turn the game completely against them - because of the recycling system which allows players to put cards from the graveyard back on the battlefield. So, instead of dealing massive amounts of damage directly to the enemy hero, waiting sometimes has its benefits.
Better than boring words, here are two videos that explain how the game is played.

We have prepared for you a functional random mode of RONE on Tabletopia. You can test the game to ensure that you are not going to buy a cat in the bag. This link will transfer you directly to the game lobby. Take a seat and wait for your opponent. During your waiting time, look through the cards; you will find everything necessary to play the game. Remember that Tabletopia is still in development and it's still missing some functionality.
If you rather test physical version of the game you can download Print and Play version, which contains two prepared decks. These decks do not possess any advanced effects or keywords and are designed to be easy to learn to get the basic overview of how to play the game.
Even though you can find technology cards in the PnP, we highly recommend not to use them before you learn the basic concepts of the game. Without technology cards it is easy to slip into the game and familiarize yourself with its basic principles.
To add an add-on to your pledge, first pledge for whichever tier you’d like. When you are finished, return to the main campaign page and click the blue “Manage your Pledge” button on the top right hand side. This will bring you to a new screen, with your pledge information. At the top will be the amount of funds you have pledged, and below that the level you have selected. Adjust the total amount of funds you’re pledging (but not the pledge level) by the combined value of the add-ons you wish to add.
Alternatively, if you know what add-ons you wish to purchase at the time of your pledge, you may do them simultaneously while confirming your pledge level using the same method.
This book will contain a big story from RONE world with a lot of connections between characters. You will find there why hybrids cooperate with nanobiots, why mutants joined human forces and many more.
About 40 pages full of intense story and exclusive content.
Some stretch goals can also be unlocked as Distributor exclusive content. This means that the content of the stretch goal will be available in retail, but for an additional price. Any distributor that will join the print run is available to order up to 10% of this exclusive content in addition to their order. E.G. if a distributor wants 100 pieces of the game he is able to order 10 distributor content packages.
Current list of distributors:
- REXhry (Czech republic)
- Intrafin (Europe)
- BNW Distribution (Germany)
Why should you pledge for this game on Kickstarter? There are several reasons!
- The pledge amount is at least 25% off of MSRP.
- Two Kickstarter exclusive heroes that will not hit retail. Some of the stretch goals are distributor exclusive content, meaning they might hit retail but in limited amount.
- Our games would not exist without Kickstarter.
- We run on narrow margins and rely on crowdfunding to help us get each game published.

My name is Štěpán Štefaník and I am the creator of the RONE card game. I am an enthusiastic board game (especially card game) player who wanted to create something that meet his needs, something that was easy to learn and play, but hard to win. I worked on this game for 6 years and during the development I found awesome artists, testers, and other people who helped me create a quality game that I was proud of. Without these people it would have been absolutely impossible to finish the game.
After the game was released I found more great people who started helping me with all aspects of the game. I would like to thank everyone who participated in this project and made it possible to bring it to life, especially the translators, artists, testers, and other people who stand behind the RONE project.
There are also hundreds of players around the World who helped to improve the project with their questions and their feedback.
A big thanks to all of you!
Risks and challenges
RONE: Races of New Era was our first board game project on Kickstarter. There were some mistakes and delays but we managed to deliver everything as we promised. The experience we gained resulted in new ideas and a new viewpoint for future projects. Through this project we hope to reach a new level of game publishing quality. We will do everything we can to ensure that the estimated delivery date set for February 2018 will not change and that it will be final.
Most of the challenges regarding this project are already in the past. We found a supplier, artists, determined the exact components, and determined the costs and prices.
We have established relationships with the manufacturing company Panda Game Manufacturer.
Meanwhile, we are still investing a lot of effort in testing and balancing the game, because there is always room for improvement.
We are open to any suggestions and feedback.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
