The "Comedy of Horrors" Film Festival is the world's only film fest dedicated to the Horror Comedy genre. Entering it's fifth year, it has already landed in MovieMaker Magazine's Top Five Coolest Comedy Film Fest's WORLD WIDE!
The "Comedy of Horrors" Film Fest is a one-day (until now) entertainment extravaganza which includes feature length films and shorts from around the world, all featuring some mix of comedy, horror, or horror-comedy. Somewhere in the middle of all that, there's live, independent music. And prizes galore, courtesy of our generous sponsors! Not the colored pixels that pass for rewards in some circles. The "Comedy of Horrors" gives away real, physical items of value that you can take home and enjoy. If funded, this festival will take place on Saturday, April 25th, 2015 at Central Cinema in Seattle, WA.
And maybe Sunday April 26th 2015! (See *Stretch Goals* below)
This is our second Kickstarter campaign, and since last year's festival fully funded, met all stretch goals, and resulted in a completely SOLD OUT event, we are looking to make 2015 even more spectacular!
Over 4 festivals,Gord and Steve have earned a solid reputation for delivering a unique mix of the horrific and hilarious. They screened the Seattle premieres of Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu, Doghouse, Deadheads, Monster Brawl, Moleman of Belmont Ave,Buck Wild, Puppet Monster Massacre, Grabbers, Love Bite and Hellbenders, in previous fests, in addition to combing hundreds of shorts to unearth such viewer-pleasing treats as How My Dad Killed Dracula, Spider, Cargols, Killer Kart and Don't Move!
This is all brought to you by Steve and Gord of The BoneBat Show, a Seattle-based, comedy, music and pop-culture podcast.
That’s right! There are three things that Gord and Steve really enjoy, but only two of those things are legal in public; so let's just keep it to movies and live music. Past years have featured sets from Indie Instrumentalists Barefoot Barnacle, Nerdcore Kingpins Death*Star, Progressive Metallists Burning of I, the funky, funky sounds of Tip to Base, Nerd Rock from Kirby Krackle, and Beefy's own brand of nerdcore rap. This year’s festival promises to bring another heavy dose of independent music to the proceedings.
"A wonderful mix of comedy and horror...I’m already looking forward to BoneBat next year." - Tim Hall, The People's Critic, Seattle Post-Intelligencer
"A fantastic festival! One of the bright jewels in the Emerald City. BoneBat knows how to have a great time." - Eric Morgret, Maelstrom International Fantastic Film Fest
"Definitely worth checking out" - Seattle Film Blog
"I laughed. I cried. I may have wet myself a little." - Matt of Seattle Geekly
"These are great movies, with great people, in a great environment!" - Mail Order Zombie
"The BoneBat Comedy of Horrors Film Fest last April was one of the best indie film festivals I've ever had the pleasure of attending: Lovingly curated, and brimming with innovative local, national, and international genre cinema. Between the uniformly high quality of the selections and Steve Holetz's affable energy driving it, BoneBat's Fest felt like a meaty, seriously world-class presentation…only with way more gallows giggles and spurting viscera.
The mad geniuses behind BoneBat have proven that they know how to make a little money go a long way. Give 'em a real budget, and God only knows what surprises they'll have in store for rabid genre fans". - Tony Kay, City Arts Magazine, The Sunbreak, The Examiner
Yes. If the festival funds, any remaining tickets will go on sale in February for the advance price of $35 each, and increase again to $40 the week of the show. T-Shirts and hoodies will be more expensive later as well, so now is the time to get everything at the lowest possible price!
The money will go directly to making the festival happen. Theater rental, graphic designer, shirt and poster printing, and screening fees will be covered first. Additional funds received will be used to bring in musical guests from out of town, and any other ways we can think of to make the festival even more amazing!
THE lowest prices we can offer for this year's tickets and festival merch, that's what! Plus, we have Kickstarter exclusives to appeal to hardcore film festival junkies, BoneBat Show fans, Mighty Wombat groupies, podcasters and even musicians!
Here is a picture of 2013's Enormous Package, including our limited edition poster and T-Shirt, to give you an idea of what's available.
We will have a brand new limited edition design for our 2015 posters, T-Shirts and Hoodies, artist TBD.
Don't see a combo you want? We do take requests! Let us know, and we will add it!
Our stretch goals for 2015 are two-fold:
If we reach our stretch goal of $6,000, we will be bringing our favorite death bluegrass ensemble THE PINE BOX BOYS all the way up from San Francisco to entertain you, along with their brother act LESTER T. RAWW'S GRAVESIDE QUARTET! 2 Sets for the price of one!
If we reach our stretch goal of $7,500, we stretch ourselves...literally! We will expand the fest to 2 days, with a whole new lineup of Comedy Horror goodness for Sunday, April 26th!
The BoneBat Show is a Podcast- and Parsec- Award nominated, comedy, music and pop-culture podcast which has been rocking the virtual airwaves since 2007.
Co-host Gord Caulkins is a California-based (feel free to hold that against him) cartoonist whose comics have made people laugh worldwide since 2001. His work can (and should!) be seen at mightywombat.com.
In addition to his duties as director of the "Comedy of Horrors" Film Fest, and producer, co-host, and interview ninja for The BoneBat Show, Steve Holetz also spins independent metal, rock and punk music on the Bonehand Heavy Half Hour podcast. All of Steve's projects can be found at www.bonehand.com.
The "Comedy of Horrors" Film Fest has been made possible, in part, through generous corporate sponsorships. If you would like to put YOUR company or organization in front of our audience, and be a part of one of the coolest film festivals in the world (See Word on the Street above.) please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would be happy to work with you - flexibly, creatively and professionally.
[Note: Corporate sponsorships contingent upon approval by Steve and Gord. Look, I'm sure YOUR company or organization is awesome, We just put this in here to prevent our film fest from getting hijacked by, say, Skrulls.]
The Comedy of Horrors Film Fest features scenes of horrific comedy and comedic horror: a cinematic dichotomy which has been linked to brain bifurcation in laboratory interns. Steve and Gord cannot be held liable for lost articles, dangling participles, or split infinitives. No animals were harmed in the making of this kickstarter... not even the chicken. She's fine. Gord's OK too.
Risks and challenges
There is very little risk beyond the initial event funding. Steve and Gord successfully created this festival from scratch and have run it four times. The venue is there, the bands are out there, the films are out there, and we just need to put them all together. The only real danger to this festival is if something bad were to happen to Steve and Gord physically. And THAT, my friends, is why they will not be permitted to fly in the same plane together until after the festival is complete.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
