The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers Playing cards intend to portray a simple yet detailed image of both the characters and the stories of each book. Each deck features the most meaningful characters of both books while paying great attention to every single detail.
The Count of Montecristo tells the story of Edmond Dantès, a young and innocent merchant sailor who is framed and wrongly imprisoned, and his journey of revenge against those that betrayed him.
This story of revenge, jealousy, pride and greed takes place in the early 19th century France and Italy, with a notable oriental presence throughout the entire journey. All of these points have been a core influence for the design of this deck. With The Count of Monte Cristo Playing Cards I tried to pay great attention to all details to make sure that it portrays a simple yet detailed image of both the rich story and the characters.
The back and tuck are inspired by book bindings of the 19th century and feature details that sum up the journey of Edmond Dantès (aka Count of Monte Cristo) and his alter egos throughout the entire book.
The pips and number cards are inspired by the playing cards of the 19th century and have a minimal design, making them perfect for playing.
The Three Musketeers relates the adventures of the young musketeer aspirant d'Artagnan and his three musketeer friends Athos, Aramis and Porthos. Together they get involved in dangerous intrigues and affairs of state and court.
This story of courage, honor, ambition, and treason takes place in the 17th century France and England. With The Three Musketeers Playing Cards I tried to incorporate meaningful details to make sure that the deck portrays a true image of both the story and the characters.
The back and tuck are inspired by book bindings of the 17th century and feature details that portray the characteristic setting of this adventure.
The pips and number cards are inspired by the playing cards of the 17th century and have a minimal design, making them perfect for playing.

I had this project in mind ever since I started working on the first Nouveau sketches because both books have been my personal favorites for as long as I can remember. I decided that it's about time to bring this idea to life while I'm taking my sweet time with the RIO Playing Cards :)
Risks and challenges
Like my previous project, Alexandre Dumas Classics' will be printed by Expert Playing Card Company. All the artwork will be submitted once the campaign is over and if there are no complications, all backers should receive the decks and add ons on time. However there can always be unforseen situations and delays, either during the printing or the delivery process. Taking that into account and based on the previous experiences with NOUVEAU UC2016 deck and NOUVEAU BIJOUX deck, we've left a generous amount of time to ensure the production and delivery of all items without delay.
Note: the renderings show the best true colors intended, but slight variances between the RGB (computer pictures) and CYMK (printing process used for playing cards) may occur. The artwork may be subjected to slight changes during and after the campaign to improve the deck, in which case all backers will be notifiedLearn about accountability on Kickstarter
