Rubbin' is Racin' - Unlocked at $12,750 - Dare other racers to overtake you with this melee focused expansion. This pack expands what you can do with the Metal Scraps junk card, adding the Armor Plating upgrade, as well as the Wheel Scythes upgrade. It also allows an alternate rule for players to bring one metal scraps junk card with them to use as an unlimited use contraption to damage racers in the same space.
Lube it Up - Unlocked at $13,500 - Get greased up and wonder why you never oiled your moving parts before with this messy expansion. This pack includes the Oil Can and Rubber Hosing junk cards, as well as the Grease Gun contraption which drops oil slick tokens on the map, forcing all players who pass them to avoid them or crash.
Rampin' my Style - Unlocked at $14,250 - Jump over hazards instead of facing them head on with this lofty expansion. This pack includes the Ramp and Goggles contraption cards, as well as a new mechanic for dropping ramp tokens. These ramps allow you to make a drive check to jump over the next space on the board, but once its on the board, everyone behind you can use it too.
Pit Stops - Unlocked at $15,000 - Top off your contraptions with this crafty expansion. This pack includes Junk Stand tokens which allow a player to draw two random junk cards as they pass by. Contraptions can now be made on the race track! This pack also adds the Autolube System upgrade which makes your racer handle better, more durable, but also more complex.
Junkyard Derby is a card-driven steampunk racing board game from the makers of the Pure Steam series of roleplaying game resources. In Junkyard Derby, players construct a racing machine from components found in the junk pile and battle down the track to the finish line.

Example Play Videos:
You need to build quickly, because anyone can race after the third round of play. There are four components every racer needs to race: chassis, wheels, steering, and propulsion. Each component has its own attributes; some are quick and flimsy, others slow and sturdy.
Our unique card design lets you envision your racer! The base game includes four options for each slot, creating lots of racer combinations!
Once you've built your racer, hit the streets!
But beware! The proprietor of the race didn't get permits, so there are plenty of hazards on the way to the finish line. These hazards may damage your racer or slow you down. Players can also target each other with effects to slow them down or damage their racers. While your racer is damaged, its attributes are reduced. Since it's made of junk, each time you take damage you roll to see if your racer falls apart. A failed check means your racer has a catastrophic failure, further reducing its stats...
Fret not! These racers are expected to fall apart. They’re made out of junk, after all.. You can stop to repair damage at any point during the race, removing some damage each turn. Or you can build yourself with a Pneumatic Jack contraption, and discard it to remove ALL damage during a repair.
Most of the cards you find in the deck are Junk cards, which are worthless by themselves. If you combine them in innovative ways, however, you can build an upgrade for your racer or a contraption to battle on the streets.
There are six characters to choose from. Each character has unique stats they add to their racer, regardless of the components used. Additionally, each character has two unique abilities--one to use during the Prep phase of the game (such as stealing a component from a foe) and another while racing (such as the ability to repair one damage on the fly).
Junkyard Derby is a game for two (2) to six (6) players ages eight (8) and up. It takes about 30 minutes to play.
Inside the box, the base game has a race track board, approximately one hundred twenty (120) cards, one (1) die, fifty (50) damage tokens, six (6) player tokens. Please note: the quantity and quality of items will change as stretch goals are unlocked!

Risks and challenges
We've learned a lot from our last two Kickstarters, and we plan to use that knowledge to make this project a huge success. The artwork is complete for the basic game, so as soon as it funds we can kick off production. Our two manufacturers have laid out clear processes and timelines for us, and we feel their track records are solid. Once we get know the exact quantity to produce, we will lock in a manufacturer and the game should be made in an expeditious manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
